Kenrita's POV

"Everyone meet me at the bridge as soon as possible. Massive breakthrough. I'll bring the map." I told the others through our group link. I quickly changed out of uniform and grabbed the map. I swum to the bridge as fast as my tail would carry me, wishing we hadn't had to leave our dolphins behind.

Marco's POV

Working at the krill farm was a good way to keep my muscles fit but it was torture not being able to see the others. We had the group link but Miara had explained that long-distance telecommunication was magically draining and was only to be used in emergencies. So I was left on my own with only brain washed mermen for company.

As soon as I got Kenrita's message I gathered my tools and put them in the shed. I swum as quickly as I could to the bridge, greatful to drop the pilgrim act for a while. I was the first to arrive, followed by Miara and Eleckra,  and lastly Kenrita.

"What was so important we could blow our cover to come here?" Eleckra demanded . I smiled inwardly, I loved her bluntness. 

"Zephra isn't just any Tephon, he's their king, Tempeste." She told us grimly and Miara gasped. We had all heard the tale of how four brave merwomen had banished him from Aquata a million times. The merwomen of old had forced him out of Aquata using powerful wards, sealing the spell with blood. He must have convinced a priestess to sacrifice herself to free him to break the wards.

"We need to tell the authorities. " I said, my mind already forming plans to handle the situation.

" Already done." Rita answered me.

" We can't just sit around here and do nothing !" Miara yelled after Kenrita had told her the whole story. Kenrita nodded thoughtfully.

" We don't know what to do, we should wait for the Council's decision before we act." Eleckra disagreed with them. As much as I wanted to side with her I knew I shouldn't, more people could be hurt while we sit here twiddling our thumbs.

" What? And have innocent  mer getting hurt while we sit here waiting?" Kenrita said, voicing my thoughts.

" How did the original four defeat Tempeste ?" Miara asked cautiously. 

 " They forced him across the border using powerful wards and used blood to seal the spell." I recalled the legend, not really understanding what she was implying.

" We'd need someone like Elissima, who could see past his illusions." I mused.

" Which is where Eleckra comes in, she saw past his act in the town square. She can do it again!" Rita added, warming up to the idea.

"What?! I'd have to use wards!" Eleckra shrieked. 

"Have a little confidence in yourself, you were always the top of the class in Wards." I reassured her, remembering back to our high school days.

" Miara could teleport and defend you while Marco and I trick him into getting across the border!" Rita added. She looked thoughtful before asking, " How would we seal the spell?"

"One of us could cut our palm with your dagger." Miara suggested and Eleckra's hand went to her scabbard where her sacrificial dagger for ceremonies was held. We all agreed, albeit Eleckra reluctantly, and went to gather our gear from our dolphins in the stables. We had a mission and we were going to complete it.

Unknown POV

I watched them depart from Zephrylle and my fogged mind became clearer. I swum to the place I knew they would be leading Tempeste to and prepared myself for what I knew I had to do.
