Hey everybody I'm trying to keep up with the updates. However, I have an exam on Monday plus cadets and rehearsal Sunday, so please forgive me if chapters are slow or short. Shoutout to DianaAspinall one of my close friends for being really supportive of this book.
ChoclateyClaire 🍫Kenrita's POV
The trip home was an interesting one to say the least. With Marco and Eleckra preoccupied, I was enjoying having Miara to myself.I take great pleasure in making her blush. Who can blame me? It's adorable when she does it.She had been dreading our return to Aquata, as if what we had done was wrong and we'd be punished for it. Try as I might, I still couldn't get her to completely relax about it. In my opinion, the sooner we got home the better. It seemed my wish was granted, as the currents were on our side and we fot back far sooner than expected.
To say we got a good welcome home party would have been the understatement of the year. There were people on the streets celebrating and our religious banners, usually reserved for holidays, were hung from buildings. People were dancing, musicians were playing, and there was so much laughter. We were swept into the crowd by the jubilant mer and crowns of kelp were placed on our heads. The others looked to me ,confused, and I grinned back at them and let the celebration take me where it wanted.
Miara and I spun each other around and around, until we were so giddy we couldn't see straight. I saw glimpses of Marco and Eleckra dancing and attempted to join them. "Come on,Miara." I beckoned and she did a little shimmy and swam over to me. I motioned for her to follow and we battled the crowd to get to Marco and Eleckra.
"Any idea what's going on? "Eleckra shouted over the noise of the party. We shook our heads.
" I think we should just enjoy ourselves as b long as we can until we are summoned. " Marco advised, his eyes locked on Eleckra. I nodded and we began to dance again, blissfully happy to be holding Miara in my arms.
The celebration was halted far too soon when we recieved an angry looking turtle messenger. I don't have Anarkra's affinity for sea creatures, but I could tell he was pissed. Miara opened the envelope and read it through the group link." Miara and Kenrita, sea witch apprentices, Eleckra, priestess apprentice, and Marco, warrior in training, have been formally summoned to The Temple Of Alchitâe for an urgent all council meeting.SWHC, PHC, BOA."
"It was fun while it lasted." Eleckra said through the link and sighed. I nodded, at least we had some time to celebrate. As one we got on our dolphins and swam towards The Temple of Alchitâe.
We took no time to admire the admittedly wonderful architecture of the temple, instead swimming straight to the largest amphitheater. Leaving our dolphins behind would have felt wrong so we rode them straight into the amphitheater .
We were greeted by the entirety of sea witches, priestess, and warriors but I wasn't to be intimidated. We just defeated Tempeste, they were nothing on him. I could see Miara looking nervous, so I quickly reassured her through the link. "You are strong, and we just defeated their greatest enemies with little to no experience. We will be be rewarded, not punished." I saw her hold her head a little higher and I rose my gaze to meet that of Selevene. My mentor, Mithara, and Anarkra had very different beliefs about what was best for The Sisterhood. Unfortunately for us, she has a lot of power on the Council, so we were pretty much screwed unless another Council intervened.
Selevene began to speak." You have shown great bravery and haved saved Aquata from Tempeste and we thank you for this. However, you ignored direct direct orders and your reckless actions cost the life of a misguided merman called Sabas. Not only this, but Eleckra had the audacity to perform his funeral instead of returning him to the proper authorities. "
We looked at each other, dumbstruck .How could they be mad at us for doing their jobs for them ? Selevene and some of her more loyal supporters looked satisfied, however the rest of the amphitheater was in uproar. Eleckra's mentor, Aiasha, was the only one who remained calm. Instead of joining the chaos, she calmly swam towards Selevene and began to speak.
"With all due respect, Selevene, my apprentice was not wrong in carrying out the funeral of Sabas. By the time they could have found somewhere to drop him off, he would have been decomposing and the service would have been held by a stranger. Not only that but Sabas's death was not a consequence of their actions. His sacrifice was his decision and we should honour him , as these young trainees have, instead of trying to blame our saviours."
Anarkra and Mithara seemed to recover at the same time and swam towards the now crowded podium." Our apprentices have only done what they believed was right for our kingdom and with their courage they have saved us all. " Mithara defended us and I felt a surge of gratefulness for my fiery mentor.
"It would fare you well to remember that though they were reckless, they defeated our oldest enemy, Tempeste. This hasn't been done since The Ancient Four." Anarkra added sagely.
A merman who looked like a warrior joined the podium crowd." On behalf of my apprentice, Marco, and his cohorts, I believe what they did was beyond amazing and should be rewarded . They are heroes, not miscreant children. " Selevene was about to protest when a royal turtle messenger sped in. Anarkra read the letter out loud.
" Marco, Eleckra, Kenrita, and Miara have been formally summoned by her majesty the Queen to the palace. You are to come immediately with your mentors."
"What?! But..." Selevene exclaimed.
"It's a royal summons, they must obey. We await her majesty's verdict." Marco's mentor said gravely.
