The Village of the Sun, Solis, was a town that bursted with life. The Sun shined brightly throughout the seasons that would pass, even during the time of Winter, flowers would bloom proudly, giving the town color, and the soft breeze of the wind would pass us by soothingly. Solis was truly a sight to behold, but that was many, many years ago.
Now, Solis is nearly forgotten, as if it was erased off of the map. Many believe the village to be long gone while others simply see it as a poor, run-down town not worthy of notice. Solis occasionally gets visitors, but those who come in hopes of seeing the beautiful village under the shining Sun are sadly disappointed, and never return.
Solis was once a large village, so large in fact that it was mistaken as a city at times. Today, Solis's population has shrunken down to over a hundred people, and the number is still getting smaller. This is due to the poor conditions the village thrives in. Most of the green, luscious grass has died off, leaving only either dry dirt or wet mud, depending on the weather conditions, in its place. Most of the leaves on trees have died and fallen off their branches, the Sun seldom comes out from behind the clouds, and the villagers themselves aren't nearly as lively as they were generations ago. It's as if Solis is slowly dying, and nobody knows why.
Solis has decreased in size significantly over time. There used to be hundreds to thousands of shops and houses, a giant town square, a large capital, anything that a city would have, but now it consists of small housings made for a small family. The only shops here are the farmers market and the blacksmith, and only one doctor lives here. It is quite hard to get around in the village. Due to the poor conditions of the village, many struggle to grow their own crops or keep whatever little livestock they have, but those who succeed still end up with very little.
The villagers would take their crops and whatever produce they had and would sell it at the farmers market to make money to buy food and clothes. However, money is practically non-existent, and instead they trade what little they have for something of higher value or for something they desperately need like more food or ingredients for medicine. Some are unfortunate enough to barley make enough to feed their families and resort to petty theft or picking up scraps off the ground.
Even though Solis's light has begun to fade, even though the villagers' faith is dwindling, they are all but lost. Even in their harsh way of living, the remaining villagers still walk with their heads held high. The villagers still have faith that the Sun will once again shine its warm light down upon the village. The fire in their hearts still burn, and they will not give up hope, because they know that one day, the one chosen by the Sun, the child of the God of Fire, Ifrit, will come and save them from this depression and show them Solis' burning passion once again.
