It's been a whole week since we've started school. In that one week alone, I learned so many new things! Everything from the history of Lucis and the Empire, and the story of the Crystal and the Oracle. That, and the fact that I was able to meet and get to know a few of my classmates, was enough to get me excited to go to school every day.
Though, it'd be even better if I knew why Ignis didn't like me so much.
Noct and I ate breakfast together one morning and had a bit of extra time together before we had to meet Ignis at the car. We took our time walking there, and when we did, it was déjà vu all over again.
It was as if yesterday morning decided to repeat itself. Ignis was still glaring at me through the mirrors during the whole drive. This time, though, I acted as of I didn't notice and kept on smiling at him.
When we arrived at school, Noct walked on ahead of me to class, but I remained sitting in my seat, fidgeting with my hands in my lap. I wanted to say something to Ignis, ANYTHING, to help lighten the mood, but Ignis beat me to it.
"Let me make things clear with you," he says sternly, making me look up from my hands. "You may be his friend, but don't think that you'll be able to hang around him like you used to." My eyes widened at his remark, though he was unfazed by my shocked expression. "From now on, he is to focus on his royal duties as the prince of Lucis. He won't have time for childish games, and he certainly doesn't need you clinging to him like a lovesick puppy."
'Welp, at least I got my answer.'
What he said had stuck with me for the rest of the day, replaying his words over again like a broken record player. It was only our second day of school, and I was already having a hard time focusing on our classwork.
"A lovesick puppy...? Me?" I muttered quietly to no one in particular. However, my classmate in front of me heard me muttering to myself and looked up from his equation sheet with a confused look.
"Did you say something?" the boy asks, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Ah! N-No!" I exclaimed in a tiny whisper, hoping the teacher didn't hear me. I felt my cheeks grow warm in embarrassment as the boy stared at me curiously. I quickly tried to cover up my embarrassment by smiling and waving my hand dismissively. "Sorry, just talking to myself. Don't mind me."
"Oh. Okay, then." The boy turns his attention back to our assignment and continues his problem without question. Continuing with my own work, I pushed Ignis's words deeper in my mind to worry about later.
A few minutes pass, and I heard my partner give a small huff. I looked up at the plump, blonde boy and saw his face contorted into a frown.
"What's wrong?" I whisper. The boy looks up at me, but only for a split second. He avoids my gaze, and he points to a problem on the sheet.
"This problem. I'm not sure how to find the height of the trapezoid," he says quietly.
"Can I look?" I ask him. He nods and turns the paper over to me, letting me read over his problem.
"I think you need to rearrange the problem like this,' I said, writing out the problem to solve for 'h.' "Maybe that'll help." I turned the paper back over to him to look at and let him solve the problem. After about a minute, his face changes as if he understood the problem.
"I think I get it now," he says. The teacher sitting at her desk apparently thought we were being too loud and shushed us immediately, making the two of us flinch. Once the class had quieted down some, my partner and I resumed our work in silence until we completed our assignment. We were the first to finish, so we quietly did our own thing until the bell would ring.
