Astrid stood quietly facing the blank, expressionless face in the mirror. Who was this girl?

Astrid had just come from a party with her mate Heather. Astrid was supposed to meeting her boyfriend Eret there, but instead she found his sucking face with Ruffnut (if you'll pardon the expression) and Astrid just felt her heart and world melt away.

"Screw this!" Astrid shouted to herself and grabbed the scissors she saw laid on the bathroom sink. She picked them up, and just like Katy Perry, she hacked at her hair.

He was not gonna change her and knock her down. She was gonna be who she'd always wanted to be.

"I'm going to the army. I'm gonna be the best. I'm gonna be better than you. I'm over you. I hate you, Astrid! Look who he let you become!" Astrid ripped at herself as she began to strip away her exterior. All the makeup, the hair, the nails. All of it isn't her, and it's not going to be now.

Astrid reached over to her phone and found 'music'. She selected Katy Perry's "Part of Me" and played it. She found herself singing along as she undressed and threw on her old clothes. Astrid then grabbed all of her new clothes that the old her would never wear, and threw them in a rucksack.

Astrid ran out to the forest, threw off the backpack and set it on fire.

"New me, say goodbye. Old me... Welcome back..."

It had been about a week since Astrid had received the Army acceptance letter. She was now on a bus full of new applicants like herself, that's when she noticed something.

They were all boys.

Where were the girls? Astrid suddenly felt uncomfortable being on this rather crowded bus full of boys and no girls.

"Maybe this was a mistake." Astrid thought, "No! I've come too far!" She glued herself to her seat. She was not gonna give up. Not this time.

That's when a big buff guy sat beside her. He'd been picked up at the last stop. He looked down at Astrid and smiled, and Astrid felt herself vomit into her mouth as she made eye contact with him. That is until he opened his mouth.

"Hello sexy, unusual to see such a beautiful young girl sitting in an army bus. Who broke up with you, and if you need to fill the void then I'm all ears." Astrid felt her fists ball up as he talked.

"I'm sorry. Young girl?" Astrid finally looked at his face. The man looked innocently back at her, her eyes were piercing holes through his chest and he suddenly felt bad.

"I mean, what a charming young lady. You're looking rather ravishing today." Astrid finally gave up and pounced. Astrid leapt upon to this guy and pinned him to the ground, the big buff guy was instantly pinned and struggled to move under her grip. She proceeded to kick him in the nuts as a result of his poor attempts to flirt with her.

"Speak to me one more time and ill shove your nuts further rip your---!" Astrid was unable to finish her sentence as she was hauled off of the man by a rather strong but skinny character. He was the captain of this squadron and was responsible for everyone. Despite his happiness in watching a girl beat up this mass of a man, he had to pill her away.

"You're coming with me Miss Hofferson." He shouted rather menacingly. When he said 'miss' mutterings began and made Astrid feel embarrassed about making such a scene but knew that he deserved it. Whoever that guy was...
