Falling in love with a fictional character was never something you considered too farfetched, however to find out that characters from your childhood fairy tales actually existed was a bit further than you had expected. Your childhood had led to your wildest dreams and desires to find your prince charming but you are now living with the real prince charming from the enchanted forest.
It was a peculiar life however you had met and fell in love with David as soon as you met and now you were engaged and living together. You were very different people, from literally two different worlds, but it worked well- most of the time anyway.
You had just finished the washing and was now carrying probably too much up the stairs so that it could be ironed. As you attempted to walk up the stairs, you heard David walking behind you, his arms slowly snaking around you to help support all the clothing held in your hands.
"Need some help there, love?" He asked.
"I'm fine, David," you frowned.
You didn't mean to be harsh, but it always seemed as though David never believed that you were capable of doing anything for yourself without some form of assistance.
"Nonsense, I don't mind helping."
Instantly you snapped as you tripped up one of the steps dropping everything you were carrying. You twisted in his loose grasp so you were facing him, standing over him due to being stood on a step above him.
"I don't need your help, okay? I'm not the princess locked in the damn tower. I can do this on my own," you practically shouted, your words bitter.
David would have taken a step back if he could, instead he moved his arms from around you, placing one hand onto the railing to keep his balance.
"I'm sorry," he said softly, slightly taken back by the harshness of your words.
You let out a deep breath, instantly regretting everything that you had just said. Sometimes it just became too much to allow the poor man to help you unnecessarily, however you knew that he meant well by it all.
"No David. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be cruel. I know that it is different hear than where you are from, but sometimes it just feels patronising that you are constantly trying to help me. I know you are trying to be nice, however I am capable of doing stuff for myself without assistance. I really do appreciate your help but not constantly," you explained. "I'm sorry."
A soft smile appeared on his lips. He reached one hand up to cup your cheek and pull you towards him so that he could kiss you firmly.
"It is fine my love. I am sorry to make you feel that way. I will stop offering you help if you seem capable which you do all of the time. But you can ask me to help with anything and I will. I don't want to annoy you though," he smiled softly.
"Thank you. If you'd like to help, why don't you go and make us some tea? I'll just take this upstairs and then we can go have tea on the patio?" You offered.
"I would love to."
