When We Were Young (Derek Hale)

Chapter 9

Well Logan hated me now. Derek well he is not leaving me alone. When I look to my right there he is. Look to my left, there he is. It's like he's a freaking magnet or something. He managed to become my lab partner in chemistry and even managed to change some of his classes so that they were with me, why couldn't he just leave me alone. I don't hate Derek. I understand what he meant when he said he didn't notice Logan there when we...you know kissed. We were still talking but I'm acting like it didn't happen and he seems to be playing along. I feel so horrible. I'm a cheating slut. But in that moment, I really did forget everything. Logan was just a name in a tiny spot in the corner of my brain. Maybe I didn't love Logan like I thought I did. Every time I am in a relationship I always wonder why me? There are millions of other pretty girls out there so what makes me so special? Which is why I really don't know what to do with Derek.

I was walking to class and BOOM! To my left was Derek Hale. I rolled my eyes and he just rose the corners of his lips to make that smirk he always makes when he knows he is getting under my skin.

"Laura wants you to go shopping with her after school" Derek said.

"I hate shopping, why are we going to shop...she knows I hate it" I said still walking side by side to our first class.

"Homecoming" He said. Ew homecoming are you serious I don't even have a date anymore what is she thinking.

"I'm not going though" I said

"Yes you are" He said giving me a wink and walking ahead of me. He looked behind my and said "My favorite color is green" He said and walked away. Did he just? Was I just asked to homecoming? I didn't even want to go dammit. And that was the worst way to ask someone to homecoming. it's supposed to be romantic. Not that I care.

I was walking with Laura at Macy's and she still hasn't explained herself. I know she wanted Derek to ask me.

"Did you ask Derek to take me to homecoming?" I asked

"Nope" She said. "Haley, my brother really likes you. You're the first girl he has even talked to outside the family ever since Paige, I don't think he has been this happy since then" She said. Wow Laura really knows how to hit me in my sappy sack. Derek's story with Paige is a horrible one and I hope he doesn't ever experience something like that again. But why is the stress put on my shoulders. 

"Why does he like me so much?" I asked. Stopping in the middle of the aisle Laura turned around and looked almost mad at me like I said something to offend her.

"Haley you are fucking hot as hell and you're real. Not those dumb fake ass bitches who only like boys because they drive a nice looking car and have good hair." She said "Any guy would be lucky to have you"

"Even when I cheat?" I asked in a high voice. This just caused Laura to laugh.

"You didn't cheat you got caught in the moment I never liked Logan anyway he was just trying to get in your pants. The smell of arousal was all over him every time he saw you" She said. What she said sopped me in my tracks. Was Logan really just wanting sex? Was I just a toy to him?

"What? Why didn't you tell me?" I asked

"Because I didn't want you to figure out he wanted into your pants and get you to rush into something you didn't really want to do." She said. Which is actually what I probably would have done.

"That's why you are my best friend" I said

"You already know bitch" She said.

We finished our shopping trip with two beautiful dresses to wear. I decided that I really would go the homecoming with Derek and actually give a relationship with him a shot. After all it has been almost a month since the Logan incident and it was time for me to get over it. And I have to say I was pretty excited for homecoming.
