Chapter 2

Chapter 2 (Flashback)

"Haley are you ready sweetheart we gotta get going" My mother shouted.

"Yeah I'm ready ma. Who are we seeing again?" I asked

"Some good friends of mine and your fathers" She replied "they have children about your age they go to the same school as you will."

"Are they like dad and Stephen and Sam?" I asked

"Yes sweetheart they are."

"Any humans?" I ask

"No baby, just us" 'Great' I thought.

Once we arrived to where we needed to be, the house was beautiful and huge. And it was right in the middle of the woods. Which was awesome. My father knocked on the door and waited for an answer. We brought my mothers famous pie. A man with dark hair and blue eyes answered the door and the smile on my fathers face was giant.

"Jackson you son of a bitch come here" My father said bringing him into a hug.

"Nice to see you too brother, come inside Talia is making dinner for everyone"

We walking inside and saying that it was beautiful was an understatement. The room was filled with light with the living area right when you walked in a kitchen in the back, dining room to the right, and a huge stairwell right in the middle.

"Derek! Cora! Laura! Come downstairs and meet our guests" Jackson shouted upstairs Talia walked in from the kitchen and stood by his side. She was beautiful also. Long dark hair and brown eyes and really tan. Footsteps were heard coming down from the stairs, at first I saw a boy maybe my age which was 15 by the way. Then a girl who also looked my age. Then a little girl behind them. Looking at all of them you could defiantly tell they were related, they all had dark hair and the same build. Right away Stephen was eyeing Laura and I wanted to puke. Sam looked like he didn't even care. The boy that came down first was looking at me he had almost black looking hair, green eyes and he was really cute.

"Children this is an old friend of mine his name is Clay we go way back these are his kids; Haley, Stephen, and Sam. And his wife Vicky. This is Derek, Laura, and Cora. Don't worry kids they know of our kind and they are like us." Jackson said I wanted to say that I wasn't a werewolf but I couldn't get the words out with everyone looking at me.

"Actually Jackson Haley is human still and I think she is staying that way" My dad said

"My mistake I thought she would grow into her abilities" Jackson said "She must take after her mother"

Now everyone was definitely looking at me. This is what I hated about being part of a werewolf family...that fact I am not a werewolf. Not that I want to be. I see and hear what they go through during a full moon and it seems like it hurts a lot.

"Why don't you kids go outside and take a walk through the woods" Jackson said

Damn it walking with werewolves always involved me in the back cause I am slow. Awesome way to make friends. We all headed outside started to talk.

"Are you guys living here now?" Derek asked

"Yeah just moved here from Ohio" Sam said

"Why the sudden move" Laura asked.

"My dad mentioned something about your parents needing help, something about hunters not following the code" Stephen answered

"You guys gonna go to school at beacon hills high?" Laura asked. 

"Nah we are gonna finish out this year online then start fresh next year" Said Stephen

We were walking in the woods and they started to go faster while like I said was normal even my brothers sometimes forgets I am human. "Oh shit guys remember we have a human in our mists" Sam said. Everyone looked at me and I just gave a slight smile and a little wave. "It's fine go ahead Ill catch up" I said even though I didn't really want to stay behind. I hate being left behind.

"Haley do you forget we know when you're lying. It's not fine. We can slow down" Sam said

I eventually agreed with them and ran to where they all were. I was walking between Derek and Laura. "So human huh?" asked Derek.

"Yep just a weak non eye glowing, growling, long nailed, self healing human" I replied

Derek chuckled

"You ever wanna be one of us?"

"Nah not really it seems like it hurts"

"Yeah that sucks, but we can't have a gift like that without getting something bad in return"

"That's true"

"Lets see who that fastest wolf is! Haley here can be the judge" Laura suggested

"I'm gonna win" Cora said

Everyone agreed and were all lined up. I always loved watching my brothers run as weird as it may seem. They were just so fast and it in the blink of an eye they would be at their location. They were all lines up waiting on my cue to go. 

"Go!" I shouted and they were all gone.

First person back was Derek but I was frozen when I saw him transformed. It wasn't the fact he was transformed it was the color of his eyes. Blue. The color a pair of werewolf eyes took once an innocent life was taken by their own claws. I backed away frightened. What if he circled back around to kill me before the others arrived. He looked confused then mad once he realized he was transformed.

"Haley, I'm not going to hurt you" He said back to his human form. I didn't answer him I just backed away.

"It was a mistake I didn't mean to kill anyone please Haley I would never hurt another innocent person again"

"What's going on" Sam said standing next to me when I said nothing he stood in front of me "Haley snap out of it what's wrong are you hurt?" he asked scanning over my body.

"No" I said still staring at Derek.

"She just saw me transformed" Derek replied

"So, she sees us transformed all the time" Sam looked at me "What's up?" He asked

"She saw the color of my eyes" Derek said flashing them at my brother, at this point everyone was back from the race so everyone saw what was happening. 

"Shit dude, you killed an innocent" Stephen said

"By mistake it wasn't his fault and don't bring it up again, he doesn't like to talk about it" Laura said and walked away from the group. We all headed back and it was filled with awkward silence and it was all because of me. I walked up to Derek's side " Hey, I'm really sorry about that I was just shocked"

"It's fine" He said and kept walking he didn't seem like he wanted to talk. In fact he looked pissed still. I decided to walk away from him and walk in between Laura and Stephen.

"Don't worry about him he's grumpy" Laura said

"I just feel bad" I said "I was just shocked I don't want him to hate me"

"Why you got the hots for my brother?" Goodness I don't know what's worse the fact she asked me that question or the fact that I know he can hear us.

"Um I just met him and for a millisecond I thought he was going to kill me. You got the hots for mine?" I asked

"Sure do." She replied and we cracked up laughing. I looked over at Stephen and saw him smiling like an idiot. 

"I like your shirt by the way" She said. Pointing to my black and white shirt. It was nothing special but I appreciated her complimenting me.

"Thanks" I replied

"We should hang out more, you seem pretty cool and Cora is annoying and your hot brother is a plus" She said

With a chuckle I agreed and it was the blossom of a new friendship.
