I sat in my chair, my heart pounding almost out of my chest. Rhys looked at me, a scared look on his face as he stared at my covered arms. I put my hands in my lap and tried to find the right words to say, he still seemed nervous as his eyes staying glued onto me.
"You're a siren." He stated, breaking the silence in my office.
"Yes." I rolled up the sleeves on my cardigan and revealed my tattooed arms.
"I thought sirens were born that way, you couldn't have turned into a siren." His eyes darting across my bare arms.
"That's not entirely true." I rolled my sleeves back down, "I wasn't born into the bandit life like I thought I was."
He inched closer to my desk, drinking in every word I said. I didn't know how to tell him what really happened and how I'm actually a siren.
"My real mother abandoned me, knowing that I could be a siren due to our lineage." I stated. "It skips every hundred years, she didn't want a child but couldn't take the risk of getting rid of me while I was still a fetus, so once I was born she just left me in some bandit town."
"And I'm guessing a bandit found you."
"Yes, they took me in before anyone else could and raised me as their own, I had never shown any sign of being a siren until that day."
"What was so special about that day?" He asked.
"Another siren was killed."
----------------------------------------------
My body was weak and I could hardly stand, my eyes were sore and my sight became worse than before. Everything my brother told me was insane, but a thought was itching back in my head as what siren was killed. There was a loud booming noise before Jacks voice rang through our ECHO devices, he was frantic.
"I need all the bandits to come and protect the vault entrance, I'm sending down more loader bots but you better get your asses up here now!" He yelled.
Bandits ran up towards the building in a large crowd, Bone Head started darting towards the large crowd and I soon lost him in the large mess. My vision was still blurry and my legs felt like they would give out at any second, but I tried my best to run with the crowd.
Yelling in determination soon turned into screams of fear the further I walked closer towards the bunker, bright flashes shined in front of me. I collapsed onto the hard, paved ground, feeling it shake below me as I tried to catch my fall with my fists. People turned to look at me for a quick moment before running back, I pulled myself along the ground and made my way to the death wall to get to the vault key doors. I could feel my body relax on the ground, my vision going blurry and my head swimming and taking in the area around me.
My eyes shot open once again as if I had only just closed them, it was darker now and body parts were laying all around me, broken loaders littered the path and the death wall was down. I pulled myself up and dragged my feat along the pavement, making my way to the closest fast travel towards the gate. More bandits and loaders coated the pathway, buzzard pieces scattered along in the mix. Last I remembered we weren't allowed to use the Slab Kings buzzards, the vault hunters have been through here.
I managed to finally make my way towards a fast travel and made my way to the vault key doors. I pressed past the next death wall as the entrance was open, everything was dismantled and sparks seemed to be flying everywhere, bullet holes littering the walls.
I pressed down on the doors button, I was was faced with a room full of more dismantled loader bots and dead bandits, I wobbly walked through the room and found that the pounding in my head only increased and my vision seemed to be blacking out. I walked closer to finally get a clear view of the room, monitors lining the area the further I went. When I finally managed to get towards the center, I collapsed onto my knees and looked ahead of me.
On the floor laid the leader of the resistance, Roland... and another person. A girl with a half shaven head, they were both lifeless. I got a closer look at them and noticed that the girl had glowing tattoos on her arm and chest, the lights dimming as I crawled closer. My head pounded seeing her laying lifeless on the floor, my arms beginning to shine and illuminating the room.
The ground began to shake furiously, knocking my body around and onto the floor only increasing the pain in my legs and back. I could hear bandits yell from beyond the doors, my ECHO going nuts and turning into static waves. There was slight yelling that could be heard through it, Jacks voice making its way out.
"Warrior!"
I tried to push myself off of the ground only as the rumbling intensified, gravity seemed to be pushing down on my body but I persisted to take the short cut to the vault. The hallway was littered with bandit bodies and more loader bot parts, one of my worst fears was laying right in front of the fast travel. My brother, laying motionless with blood pooling out of his mask.
"Bone Head!" I yelled over the loud grumbling outside, my voice cracking.
I ran as best as I could, tripping on half of the bodies that littered the hallway and finally falling in front of him. He laid there, a hole on the right side of his cheek that went directly through his neck, he looked up at me and smiled. I pulled him into my arms and held him as tight as I could, he lazily wrapped his arms around me and patted my back.
"I wish I could've told you more." He whispered as his voice cracked.
"I wish you weren't such a bone head." I laughed pulling away from him, a brighter smile masking his imminent death.
"See you on the other side." He brushed his hand across my face before dropping it down.
I felt tears fall from my eyes, my throat clogging up from the emotions that I could not express. Anger flooded my body as I stood up almost strait and began banging on the fast travel, picking my destination and going to the vault.
I was surrounded by light and my vision went into tunnels, I still felt anger rush through me as my feet planted on the ground. The hot air surrounded me as a bright purple bubble nearly covered my body, the planet still shaking beneath me, I began running towards the shaking and yelling. I could hear Jacks voice on the ECHO more clearly now, I was nearly flying through the air as I finally fell down a drop and saw something my eyes could not comprehend.
An enormous beast roared into the air, he fell to the ground and landing right in front of the arch. I looked back towards the monitor desk to see Jack and another women standing in a bubble similar to mine, he was laying on the ground. I ran towards the group of people who stood around him but I soon stopped when Jack stood up.
"No no no." He groaned, leaning over and yelling at the vault hunters in front of him.
I climbed up on one of the stone pieces and perched myself up, I looked upon the group as Jack said his final words. Two sirens, an assassin, a soldier, and a short man wielding two guns. I didn't stand a chance even though I was a siren myself, I don't know my powers like they do.
The words Jack said brought tears to my eyes, my shield falling down as I watched the vault hunters stand and listen to him. The orange haired siren looked at the group, the words feeling like a hot knife in my chest.
"This is it, vault hunters," she hunched over, Jack nearly wincing from the pain, "either you kill Jack or I will."
"No." I whispered.
The vault hunters looked at each other, their eyes full of confusion and worry. None of them pointed their weapons towards him, the orange haired one took it upon herself and pressed her hand against his face. A bright purple light emitting from her hand as his yell turned into one final grunt, my hand covered my mouth as I watched him collapse onto the ground.
"That's for Roland, asshole."
