The storm raged outside, sending tree branches to knock on my window sills. I dialed the familiar number on my crappy phone, but ended up getting voicemail. I groaned looking over the window, to the best of my ability, to check on the yellow house across mine.

I sighed grabbing my jacket and putting it on, tucking the hood in. I walked downstairs, leaving my mom a note about my departure and headed outside. I was an idiot for even going out in this harsh weather, but I had to check on her. And by her, I mean Darcie, not Shannen. I care about my grade too!

The wind howled and blew, pushing me, as the rain poured harshly hitting me. I half-jogged , half-sprinted to her house, relieved to see the yellow house.

I pushed open the rusty metal fence, and ran towards the small garden path, to the door, I rang the doorbell like crazy, worried something actually happened. I saw pots outside destroyed, so I didn't know what else to think.

I heard a muffled shout come from the other side of the door, and I wasn't expecting a groggy and sleepy Michael to open the damn door.

"Who is it, Mike?" I heard a voice behind him, revealing Shannen wearing only a large white shirt, probably "Mike's".

She glanced up, and I saw her eyes widen in shock, ad she open the door more widely, gesturing me inside.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Luke! If you haven't noticed, there's a level-five storm outside!" She yelled at me, tugging the white t-shirt down, giving up and slipping a pair of boxers scattered around the floor.

"I wanted to check on Darcie, since you were to busy fucking this prick, to notice that I was calling!" I answered back, glaring at her.

"I wasn't fucking Michael! He's been staying here for the past week helping me with Darcie because I was sick, and he was available, when you didn't bother to answer your phone or your fucking doorbell." She pointed accusingly, sighing and sitting down, grabbing a hold of a purple bottle and drinking from it.

"You weren't sick, stop lying! You're probably bothering Michael, he had a baby of his own to take care off." I scolded her, this time getting up.

"I was gone the whole week from school, but I guess you really just didn't care if I existed or not! You threw his baby at the dumpster on the first day, so he's been Darcie's dad!" She screamed at me, standing up on her tip-toes, trying to get to eye level but failing.

She fell over, her knees giving out, accidentally hitting her head on the coffee table and resting it there. Michael came in and scooped her up in his arm, feeling her forehead and glaring at me.

"She's still burning up and you bring problems and now she fainted!" He blamed on me. Dabbing a wet cloth from the table on her forehead. He carried her to the couch, and laid her head on one of the pillows.

I heard a cry coming from another room, and saw Michael quickly jog to the room, and recover Darcie who was now wailing and refusing to drink her milk. He caught me staring and walked over to me handing me the glaring baby.

"Listen mate, I have been here all week, and you seriously need to start helping her," He said gesturing towards Shannen, "When I got here, she was crying begging me to take Darcie and the same thing happened, she fainted, but luckily I caught her and your stupid baby." He added angrily.

"You are suppose to be the father of this project, Luke. She can barely sleep and she has school, and for fucks sake, she's also taking online college classes! If that's not enough for you to start caring a bit then I think you're fucking heartless." He spat out, grabbing his clothes and a backpack heading towards the door.
