Grainger's eyes began to turn black again.
"Grainger. Calm yourself! You easily loose control and then you remember the unspeakable things that you've done. Then you say sorry and go back to bring the nice Grainger only to do it all over again. Why do you do such things and then complain about them? It is shortsighted of you." Doctor Hugo commented. Grainger collected himself before he spoke. He knew that Doctor Hugo was right but he could never fully bring himself to except it. Grainger tried desperately to hide his powers from Doctor Hugo. People, especially doctors, are skeptical of people with abilities such as Grainger's for this very reason. Grainger slammed his eye lids closed in hopes of Doctor Hugo not finding out that his eye color had changed. This was a dead give away that he had powers, dark powers.
"Grainger. I know you posses the Kracht." Doctor Hugo confessed. Grainger looked up in horror.
"The Kracht...." Grainger stuttered.
"A living, breathing, energy that embodies select people and gives them god like abilities. Much like your's, Grainger. You can move things with your mind, burn things, freeze things, teleport, and do whatever else you want. This comes with a price tough. You feel it don't you... the pull from both the darkness and the light." Doctor Hugo elaborated. Grainger nodded and looked back at Azalea who was still sitting on the bed.
"Grainger, I know where you came from. The Kracht is strong in your family. Your mother has it, your father, has it, and you have it. Even your grandparents and aunt and uncle. Heck, even your wife and cousin have it." Doctor Hugo explained. "Why don't we go see Sofia?" he continued. Grainger was too afraid to speak. He could feel Sofia's pain even when he wasn't near her. He wanted revenge worse than Anna did. He would do anything to get what he wanted. It didn't matter who he had to kill to get his way. If you weren't with him, you were against him. Grainger stumbled out of his hospital room with Dr. Hugo and Azalea following him. Grainger feared what he was about to scrutinize. He picture Sofia in pain with bandages all over her. A cast falling heavy on her foot and tape over her eyes. He pictures them in the future. Sofia stumbling along the castle grounds with a walking stick and him calling out to her with no response. Grainger cried slowly as the door to Sofia's room swung open and the nurse invited him to her bedside. His eyes searched Sofia as he saw the scars on her arms and the giant scar that grazed her face through her right eye brow. This was the scar that costed her her sight. He watched as the nurse inserted a hearing aid into one of Sofia's ears. He looked down at her legs and saw that her left leg was in a heavy cast that started down at her toes and crept up to her thigh. Grainger covered his mouth to prevent himself from crying out in agony. He watched the heart monitor and watched as it slowly began to decrease. Sofia, the only thing Grainger had left, was slipping away.
"I can use my powers to save her. I can heal her." Grainger stated. He was determined to keep her alive. Sofia knew that she was dying and so did everyone else. Sofia's hand reached up weakly and grabbed Grainger's hand. He looked down at her face as she drew his hand closer to her.
"Don't..... don't save me. I want to die a hero. If.... if you use your powers... you will find yourself in a dark place. Your eyes and hair won't return to what they normally are and everything as you know it will disappear. Don't.... save....me. When I move on.... find my sister." Sofia chocked out as her heart rate plummeted like Grainger's happiness. This broke Grainger's heart. Sofia had minutes left and he would save her.
"All I need is you. You're my everything. You show'd me right from wrong and I tried to leave my past evil life behind me. I don't want to fight alone anymore. I don't care what you have to say, I'm not loosing you too."Grainger declared as he began using his powers to save her.
"Stop! Grainger you're not alone. Find my sister... promise me you'll find her. If you want to save me, let me go. Let me be free." Sofia uttered tight-lipped.
Grainger frowned and dropped his hands.
"If I don't save you, you'll die and I can't live with knowing that I could have saved you but I let you go. I killed you, Sofia." Grainger argued. He raised his hands again to continue the healing but Azalea interrupted. She used her powers with the Kracht and ripped Grainger away from Sofia. Grainger was jolted backwards but was still holding Sofia's hand. It fell wearily to the floor when he was dragged away. Grainger screamed as the heart rate monitor flat-lined.
