Grainger selected the tracking button on the dashboard and sat back. He knew that his family couldn't be that far away. As a matter of fact, he thought they were tracking him too. A series of loud beeps alerted Grainger that a ship was approaching. Grainger swallowed hard, it was them. He prepared a speech mentally, knowing that they would do the same. Just then, a large ship came into view. Grainger broke out into a cold sweat.

"Reagan! I found him! He is here!" Luka yelled. The ships grew closer together.

"Here as in...." Reagan started. She turned into the control room and stared out the window. In front of her was a ship that hovered in the air. Through the small window, she made out Grainger's face. Tears streamed down her face and she covered her mouth.

"Get him, stupid!" Reagan snapped, yelling at Luka.

"Okay, okay. I'm trying!" Luka replied. He switched on the tracker beam. A red laser shot out from their ship and surrounded Grainger's ship, bringing it closer to them. Reagan ran down the stair to the docking hanger of the ship. Grainger's ship sat down gently on the metal platform. Reagan steadied herself as the doors opened and a figure stepped out. He turned around, tears covering his cheeks.

"Grainger." Reagan called out.

"Reagan." Grainger answered, he seemed pleased to see her.

Luka joined Reagan with a scowl on his face.

"Grainger." Reagan stated again, more interjected. She blinked tight and threw her arms out. She went running towards Grainger and he opened his arms, running towards her. Luka shook his head and crossed his arms. He didn't know how he should feel. Reagan threw her arms around Grainger, her head resting on his shoulder.

"I'm so sorry." Grainger wept, lowering his head to rest on Reagan's.

"Why?" Reagan asked, pulling back from  the hug.

Grainger lowered his head, looking down at his feet.

"I let the darkness overtake the light. I didn't know what I was doing. It was like someone else was in control of my thoughts and actions. I'm broken. I remembered how everyone saw me and the memories of Maverick and all the other terrible things took over. I couldn't bare to let anyone else hurt me. I never meant to start a war, I just wanted you to let me in. I felt like the misfit, the outsider. Like you were the original and I was just a copy. I guess you could say I felt jealous. But look what I have done! I let everything slip through my fingers. I was so caught up in the bad things that I forgot that there are some good things in life too. I understand if you never want to see me again. Just say the words and I will never come back again." Grainger apologized.

"What happened to your face?" Reagan asked, noticing a bruise under his eye and a scar that ran horizontally across his cheek.

"Nothing." Grainger stated, turning away. Reagan grabbed his hand and pulled him back.

"Grainger, you killed Sofia. I can still feel the good inside of you. I feel your guilt and regret. I can sense your feelings of being lost." Reagan started.

Grainger shook his head. Luka rolled his eyes, he didn't care what Grainger said or did, nothing would fix what he did.

"You're right, I am so guilty and full of regret. I can't lie any longer. Remember when Rouge blew up and we were on the ship?" Grainger started.

"Yeah." Reagan answered.

"When we fought, you threw the fire at me and it hit me, knocking me over. You can and punched me in the face. That is how I got the bruise. As the fight progressed, you got me again, pinning me against the wall and you picked up a metal bar. That is how I got the scar." Grainger confessed.
