September rolled in bringing the autumn season to England and then to October for the return go colour to Charnswell Park. The family had come out of mourning the deaths of Bradford Brandon and his son, Lawson.
The earl of Charleston, William Brandon had departed from Charnswell Park to the Charnswell train station to meet the 0930 train which had the visiter to the Park. Lady Nora, Lady Sarah and Lady Evelyn had gathered in Lady Nora's bedroom. Lady Nora stood before the mirror dressed in soft lilac, Lady Evelyn stood beside her sister and passed her a small flower to place in her hair, "Oh, do stop admiring yourself because he is not marrying you for your looks," Lady Sarah closed the book that she was holding before she placed it down into her lap, "That is if he even wants to marry you at all," Lady Sarah said.
Lady Nora looked at herself which was being reflected in the mirror as she continued to fuss over her appearance, "He will," Lady Nora said.
"You look beautiful," Lady Evelyn said passing Lady Nora the flower that she held in her hand.
Lady Nora took the flower from her baby sister and she placed it into her hair behind her ear, "Thank you, Evelyn, darling," Lady Nora said.
Lady Charleston opened the door to Lady Nora's bedroom. Lady Charleston stood in the doorway and she looked at her three daughters, "We should head down as they will be back from the station at any moment," Lady Charleston remained at her post in the doorway as her daughters walked passed her to walk down the staircase to the Great Hall where they were gathering. Lady Charleston noticed the small flower which was behind Lady Nora's ear, "Let's not gilt the little dear," Lady Charleston plucked the flower from behind the ear of her eldest daughter, "and Nora try and look surprised," Lady Charleston whispered as Lady Nora exited last from her bedroom.
All of the servants had gathered in the Servant's Hall, all the staff stood before Mr Westfall as he wondered back and forth, "You all ready," Mr Westfall examined the uniforms of each of the staff before him, "very well then we shall go out to greet them," Mr Westfall said.
Marion walked into the Servant's Hall from the kitchen where she stopped and looked into the direction of Mr Westfall, "And me, Mr Westfall?" Marion asked.
"No, Marion, not you," Marion's expression fell into a frown at the thought of having to miss the arrival of the Duke of Handelburg. Mr Westfall looked away from Marion and towards Mr Graves as he walked up the Service stairwell towards the Great Hall, "Can you manage Mr Graves or would you rather wait down here?" Mr Westfall asked.
"I want to go, Mr Westfall," Mr Graves said.
"There is no obligation for the entire staff to be present at the arrival," Mr Westfall said.
"Mr Westfall, I would like yo be there," Mr Graves said.
"Well, this certainly a great day for Charnswell Park as to be welcoming the Duke of Handelburg under our roof," Mr Westfall announced.
Jeffrey walked over to Dale as he stood at the bottom of the Service Stairwell as they waited for Mr Graves slowly made his way up the stairwell to the Great Hall, "Dale remember to help me with the luggage and not to go running off," Jeffrey reminded Dale.
Mr Graves stopped at the landing where he looked down the stairwell towards Jeffrey, Dale and Mr Westfall, "I can give you a hand, Jeffrey," Mr Graves said.
Jeffrey looked up the stairwell towards Mr Graves as he allowed for Gianna, Margaret and some of the other housemaids passed him, "Oh, I couldn't ask that of you, Mr Graves specially in your condition," Jeffrey watched as Mr Graves disappeared from sight before he turned into the direction of Mr Westfall standing beside him, "how much longer do we have to put up with this, Mr Westfall just so that I'm aware?" Jeffrey asked.
