Jeffrey Birch wondered down the servant's stairwell while he was chatting to the young housemaid, Gianna Garner as Gianna had returned from providing tea to the Lady's in the Drawing Room, "Gianna, I shall say that she shall be an equal match for the old lady because alas she is not going to give in," Jeffrey said as the two servants stepped off the stairwell to the corridor near the Servant's Hall.
Mr Benjamin Westfall emerged into the corridor from the Butler's Pantry which was surprise to Jeffrey and Gianna, "What 'Old Lady' shall you be referring to Jeffrey because alas you would not mean Her Ladyship, The Dowager Countess alas if you would intend to remain at this house," Mr Westfall scolded.
"No Mr Westfall," Jeffrey said.
Mr Westfall strolled passed Jeffrey and Gianna through the service corridor into the Servant's Hall with the two servants following him while Dale Harper sat at the piano with his back to Mr Westfall because he was lightly sliding his hands long the piano keys with Marion beside him while the music from the piano filled the Servant's Hall and the ears of Mr Jenkins, Katherine and Margaret whom sat at the servant's hall table, "Dale" all the servants which were seated at the table immediately rose to their feet, "Are you aware that the seam of your shoulder has come apart?" Mr Westfall asked.
"I felt the seam go while I was serving dinner alas I shall mend it when we turn in," Dale said.
"Certainly not as you shall tend to the mend now and you shall never appear in a similar manner of undress again," Mr Westfall scolded.
"No, Mr Westfall," Dale said.
"Dale if you wish to progress down this chosen career then you shall remember that a good servant is at all time holding a sense of pride and dignity which reflects the pride of dignity of the family alas never prompt me to remind you of this again," Mr Westfall said before turning to depart from the Servant's Hall back through the door into the corridor and down to the Butler's pantry.
Dale moved and shifted in an attempt to remove his coat but he was unable to before Marion wondered over to Dale and she assisted him, "I shall do it," Marion assisted Dale with the removal of his coat before she folded the coat over her arm as Dale turned to face her, "cheer up because alas we have all been scolded by Mr Westfall," Marion said.
"Just believe that alas one day, you Dale shall be butler and it would be you which conducts the scolding," Katherine said.
"I shall never be as tough because I bet that he is descended from a long line of butlers which come as far back as to the conquerer," Dale said.
"Mr Westfall has learned his business and shall you Dale because not even Mr Westfall was born standing to attention," Mr Jenkins said.
"I shall alas hope for the sake of his mother," Jeffrey said.
One of the bells which was on the large wall of bells that was placed on the wall behind the Servant's Hall table suddenly rang, "The evening post," Gianna said as she sat at the table with a book in her hands.
Everyone which stood around the table of the Servant's Hall stared blankly at one another before Gianna closed her book and placed the book down into the top of the table before her as she rose from the chair to wondered from the Servant's Hall towards the back door which was were she was presented with two letters before she wondered down the corridor passing Mr Westfall as he sat at his desk while she walked into the Servant's Hall, "What have you go, Gianna?" Jeffrey asked.
"A letter for Katherine and the other for Mr Westfall," Gianna said.
Dale wondered around the Servant's Hall table to approach Gianna, "I shall take the letter to Mr Westfall," Dale said as he travelled down the corridor to the butler's pantry.
Gianna wondered around the table to present the letter to Katherine which she immediately opened, "Who is the letter from?" Margaret asked.
"It is from Mr Graves," Jeffrey rolled his eyes because he had gotten rid if the lame valet but to his annoyance he still remained at the post of a bloody footman but alas he had Mr Todd Jenkins to contend with in his wanted post, "Mr Graves has been taken on by Henry Gordon, Earl of Bronzleigh and his wife; Lydia Gordon, Countess of Bronzleigh as their butler were he is going with them to America in March," Katherine said.
"That is exciting to hear would you go and tell his lordship?" Margaret asked.
"His Lordship should know," Katherine rose her eyes from the letter and into the direction of Mr Jenkins while he sat in at the table further down from Katherine, "would you mind in sharing the information with his lordship?" Katherine asked.
"But alas Katherine, I did not know Mr Graves so I believe that His Lordship would rather hear the news from you," Mr Jenkins said.
Dale approached the door of the Butlers pantry which was open for him to see that Mr William sitting at his desk with paperwork before him and a fountain pen in his hands which Dale raised his fist to lightly knock upon the frame of the door causing Mr Westfall to raise his eyes into the face of Dale, "Mr Westfall, Gianna found this at the back door," Dale said.
Dale stepped into the butlers pantry to present the letter which had been found by Gianna at the back door, "Thank you, Dale," Mr Westfall said.
Dale nodded before he left the butlers pantry to return to the Servant's Hall to hear the news about Mr Graves while Mr Westfall opened the envelope with the silver letter opener which lay on the desk beside him. Dale stood in the Servant's Hall before he turned to watch as Mr Westfall emerged from the Butlers pantry before he sighed and disappeared up the service stairwell.
