I woke up in the morning to a sweaty back, a headache and the smell of bacon and eggs surrounding me entirely. The sun shined in from the window that had been left open all night; I cursed myself for forgetting to close the curtains, too. Beside me, Annie lay still, a slow breath coming from her. I decided to leave her sleep for as long as she needed.
Slowly I climbed out of bed, my entire body aching from the inside out. I stayed quiet for Annie's sake as I grabbed my towel and clean clothes and left to make my way to the bathroom.
Almost instantly after showering and dressing myself in clean clothes I felt refreshed and better; except for the fact that my head still hurt, I was good.
The closer I got to the kitchen the better the smell of food became. I shut the kitchen door behind me as I entered to keep the sound pollution to a minimum, again, for Annie's sake.
"Well, good morning, Ashton," Luke said, turning around to get a good look at me.
"Wow," Michael gushed sarcastically, "what a surprise to see you here."
I laughed, shaking my head as I made my way to take a seat at the island. "Leave me alone, I had a long night."
Calum set two pain killers and a glass of water down in front of me before taking a seat across from me, nodding joyfully. I thanked him with a look and gulped down the tablets, along with the rest of the water.
"Any idea if Annie went home or not this morning?" Calum turned to ask Michael, the two cooking boys shaking their heads wearily.
"She's up in my bed," I said, both slowly and carefully, knowing the boys were going to be shocked by my change of mind on what to do with the Annie situation.
"She's what?" Michael almost shouted.
"Shh, Michael, she's still sleeping."
The three boys each gave me a look that I couldn't really make out as I sat there, a guilty yet pleased smile on my face.
"I guess we won't question what you want to do with your life, right, boys?" Luke said as he eyed the boys. They all agreed, nodding along with Luke's comment.
The rest of the time in which Michael and Luke made breakfast was silent and before I knew it there were four plates sat out on the island, Luke taking a seat beside me and Michael beside Calum.
"Did you make a plate for Annie?" I asked, eyeing the two boys. They nodded and I watched as Luke nodded towards the cooker where the plate was sat right beside it. I nodded back, finishing off my food and bringing it to the sink to wash and dry before picking up Annie's.
"Thank you boys, that was the legit hangover cure. I'll bring this up to Annie."
I didn't wait to hear their reactions before leaving the room and making my way back to my bedroom. Once I opened the door I realized that Annie hadn't moved a single muscle from the position she was in when I left her almost an hour ago. Surely she had to be awake by now.
"Annie?" I whispered before shutting the door behind me. I tip toed toward the bed, leaving the plate on the bed side table before leaning down on the ground beside her. I shook her lightly, trying to get her attention. "Annie, wake up, sweetheart. Brought you food."
At this, she instantly turned away from me, rolling to face the other way and taking the blankets with her. I only wondered how she could stay so wrapped in the duvet, especially in the heat of Australia.
I stood, walked around to the other side of the bed and lay down beside her. Her hair was askew across the pillow, making a bushy mess and her skin was slightly oily but she still looked beautiful, even with her face scrunched up like it was.
