Learning Three Words

I love you.

Three words that were said too much.

Between many people.

Which is good.

We hadn't said those three words to each other.

Mainly because I didn't know them.

So it was impossible.

She said it to me at school. Every day.

Sometimes there's something you can't understand, but you have a feeling it's good just by hearing it. I love you was like that.

She taught me how to say it on a park bench.

"So, now that you've learned pretty much the entire English language, there are a few words that are very hard for me to explain, which is why they are among the last words I'll teach you. Your first word is love."

"Love, what does it mean?" I asked her. This may sound weird, but love in German is liebe and I literally didn't know what love meant.

She said nothing, but she did give me a CD.

"Listen to this. And tomorrow, tell me what you learned."

I heard it. And it was beautiful.

'I love you' were surprisingly hard words to learn.

Maybe it was their simplicity.

Maybe it was their meaning.

Just something about those three words made me...

Scared.
