I was laying on my towel, tanning under the boiling sun when I suddenly felt shade. I pulled my sunglases down to see Cameron standing above me.
"You really love stalking me." I said.
"You really love acting like such a hardass." he said, smiling.
"Ha ha." I said, sarcastically, replacing my sunglasses on my face.
I was trying my hardest to ignore him but it really wasn't working at all.
"Can I talk to you?" he asked.
"You already are." I said.
"No, smartass, alone." he said.
"Cameron, our late night sneakout was fun and all but we both know we need to stay away from eachother."
It was so hard pushing him away, but I knew it was what needed to happen. Even if it really did tear me apart inside.
"Dammnit, will you just come here." he said.
"No. I'm not gonna be your toy that you can just play with whenever you want." I said.
"Like what you're doing to Taylor?" he asked.
I pulled my sunglasses off and propped myself up on my elbows.
"That's none of your fucking business." I said.
"It is when he's over there telling the whole fucking beach how much of an animal you are in the sheets." he pointed to Taylor who was surrounded by a group of guys.
My jaw dropped and my heart started beating like a rocket. Cameron must have saw the fear in my eyes because he sat next to me and put his arm around my shoulders. I tried to shrug him off but after I realized he wasn't going to move I just layed my head against his shoulder.
"I fucked up." I said.
"People fuck up. That's life."
I turned my head and stared up into his dreamy eyes, something that I never noticed before. He had a sense of comfort in them, it made me feel safe and protected.
"Penny is gonna kill me. I shouldn't be with you right now." I said.
"I don't give a shit about what Penny will do. As long as I'm around, she won't lay a finger on you." he whispered "And I don't wanna have to hear anymore stories of how awesome you are in bed, unless they're coming from me of course." he whispered in my ear and winked at me.
The words made my heart studder. I felt like I was gasping for air. I watched as he stood up and walked away from me.
I immediately snapped my head towards Taylor who was still talking with the group of boys around him. I walked over to them and stood there with my hand on my hip until he noticed me.
"Babe, what's up?" he asked, seperating himself from the group.
"We can't hook up anymore." I said. I started to walk away but he grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"What? So you're just gonna forget about me because of him." he said motioning towards Cameron who was walking along the beach with Penny.
"No. It's because I just can't deal with it anymore."
"Yeah, right. I care about you a lot, Jada. Whether you wanna believe me or not, that's up to you."
"Taylor, this isn't just about me. I know the only person you want is Penny. And I know that's why you hooked up with me."
He looked into my eyes and crinkled his forehead.
"It's not about Penny anymore." he said. "I want you now."
