                                                             Chapter 20

"Avery, when was the last time we slept together?" I asked Avery, out of breath.

three weeks ago rember it got...steamy..." He finished slowly.

"Oh my gosh. Three weeks ago?" I asked him again.

"Yeah."

"Did you use anything?" I asked him, he didn't seem to get it.

"I...I don't think so." He said and just looked at me. "What is it?"

"It's my period. I'm like a week late." I told him.

He ran a hand through his hair, "Okay. We can't panic right now, we just need to go get a pregnancy test, and make sure everything is okay. I'll run and get one. You...Stay here." He told me as he left the door. Does he even know what a pregnancy test look like?

"Okay, let's do it." I told him, holding the box in my hand.

"Let's do it." He said his face was pale; he looked like he was going to pass out.

I took the test. I set it on the sink and waited for the answer to appear. I sat there with Avery for ten minutes and waited. I looked down. It was...........Positive. My heart sank, I looked at the test, and I read the letters that formed the word 'Pregnant' on the tiny screen. I held it up in front of Avery.

He took a deep breath in, "Well, this wasn't planned. What are we going to do?"

"I guess I need to make a doctor's appointment to see how far along I am." I said, pulling out my phone to call the doctor.

"Hi, I just wanted to make an appointment. I just took a pregnancy test that was positive. I'd like to see how far along I am in my pregnancy?" I told her woman.

"Okay. We have Doctor Morrison available for an appointment tomorrow at ten? Will that do?"

"Yes. Thank you." I said as I closed my phone shut and just looked at Avery.

"It's going to be fine. I’m going to be here for you." Avery told me as we hugged.

"We are so stupid! Why didn't we use anything? We both know the outcome!" I started to get worked up.

"Shh. It's okay. We'll get through this, okay?" He told me.

"Okay." I said softly, I felt so small.

That next day, I woke up at Avery's. I went into the bathroom and did my hair, and put on some newer, nicer clothes. I looked down at my stomach; I couldn't be very far along, at all. I didn't have a belly at all, it looked normal to me.

"Okay, Miss. Dixon. We are here to talk about pregnancy?" Dr. Morrison asked me.

"Yes." I answered quickly.

"Was this a planned baby?"

"No, ma'am. It was one time without protection..." I said, I bit my index finger nail and looked up at her.

"Alright, well we'll run this test. It'll take a little while, so just sit tight."

"I have the results." The doctor told me as she looked down at her clipboard.

"What are they?" I asked, not thinking about the fact that I had just interrupted the answer.

"You are, not pregnant." Dr. Morrison told me.

"What about the test?" I asked her.

"Pregnancy tests aren't always right. It must have been a false positive. It happens on occasions. But if you if aren't in the place to have a baby, and you are active with your boyfriend, you could always go on birth control."

"I think that is probably the smartest idea..." I told her.

"Great. I'll go and get you the pills."

"Here you go, Rachel. Take these pills every morning; it is very important that you take them every morning. If you don't take them one morning, and you sleep with someone, you are at risk of getting pregnant. So don't forget, okay?" Dr. Morrison said handing me the box of pills.

"I'll take them every day. No more babies." I told her, reassuringly.

I heard the ring of my phone at about two in the morning. I grabbed it off of the night stand, and looked at the message.

"do u want to come over?" The message said, from Avery.

"It's 2 a.m. And r u sure?" I texted back.

"Yes!"Come over here!"

"Ugh. Fine. Give me fifteen minutes."

"Hey. I missed you today." Avery said, pulling me close to him. He had his color back, and looked like he had slept a little.

"I missed you, too" I told him.

"What are we going to do?" Avery said, he planted a small kiss on my lips.

"I don't know. I thought you had something planned, because it was so urgent that I get woken up to come over here at two in the morning." I said, kissing him back.

"We could go in my room, I guess?" He suggested.

"That sounds good." I whispered to him.

He lowered his hands to my waist. "What are we waiting for?" Avery said as he tucked my hair behind my ear and kissed my neck lightly.

I held his head close to me, "Nothing, let's go." I told him.
