(OKAY SO IM DEDICATING THIS CHAPTER TO MY FRIEND TAYLOR BC I LOVE HER AND SHES MY MOM. Also Rose bc I love her and her California ass too.)
(Also WHEN IT COMES TO THE FINAL CHAPTER THE TITLE WILL BE "last chapter" SO DONT WORRY)They drama team had spent another month memorizing lines, getting everything just perfect for opening night.
It was March fifteenth, opening night.
Dan was behind stage taking deep breaths, trying everything he could to calm himself down because he was unusually anxious and scared for this play.
"Hey Dan- are you alright?" Chris ran up, he was originally going to tell him the tech crew had to get their mics ready to go.
"Just- just really anxious honestly. I'm scared." Dan played with his 'D-A-N-I-E-L' bracelet Barry had made him a while back for good luck.
Chris whispered something into his mic and gave Dan a side hug, "hey, you got this! You'll do good!" He smiled wide.
"Thanks, Chris." Dan gave him a soft smile, suddenly he felt arms wrap around his waist.
"I'll be going now, heres your mic Dan." Chris winked and walked off to get ready.
"Thanks once again Chris." Dan leant into the the human beings hug. "Hi Philly."
"Chris said you were nervous?" Phil rested his head on top of Dans, hugging him closer.
"Yeah.. just a bit I guess. I've got mom here and she told me someone important was coming to watch me and I've been nervous ever since." Dan explained as he closed his eyes, feeling comfortable and safe in Phil's arms.
"Ah.." Phil knew what was going on and he could hardly contain his smile. "I'm sure everything'll be fine." He kissed his cheek as the lights flickered, "oh that's our signal to get ready."
Dan stared at the curtains with wide, horrified eyes.
"Hey, Dan, you'll be great. I believe in you." Phil pulled him in for a quick kiss. "I'll be on the other side waiting for my cue. I love you."
"I love you too."
----
Dan stepped onto the stage for the one of the final acts.
"James. James please." 'Micheal' grabbed 'James' wrist, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I made a mistake, I just didn't-"
"You didn't want to be outcast by your 'popular friends' I get it. I'm not good enough for you." 'James' turned around with tears in his eyes.
Dan froze. His father was in the audience, with a huge smile plastered on his face.
"No! You are enough! I'll prove it." Cue a bunch of background characters coming onto the stage. "James, I love you" 'Micheal' pulled 'James' into a kiss, blue and brown surrounding them, the audience gasping.
----
It was after the play, Dan ran through the hallways Phil following close behind. Dan pulled himself to a halt, panting as his shoes squeaked against the floor because of the force. Standing 10 feet in front of him was his father. The one and only Ronald Howell.
"Dad..." Dan stared while his eyes watered.
"Danny." Ronald smiled brightly, it'd been 6 years since they'd seen each other last and he was proud of how his son turned out.
Dan ran and hugged his father as tightly as possible, afraid he'd loose him again. "I've missed you."
"I missed you too buddy.. you have no idea how much." Ron hugged him just as tight.
---
"Dad this is Phil, my soulmate and boyfriend..." Dan said a little afraid, he knew his dad wouldn't turn him away.
"It's nice to meet you Phil, I'm Ronald but you can call me Ron." Ron smiled and shook Phil's hand.
"Nice to meet you." Phil gave him a bright smile to reflect his bright personality.
"Now Dan, don't ruin this boy he seems nice and he's like a ray of sunshine." Ron snorted a laugh.
"Hey!" Dan acted attacked while putting his hand to his chest. "I'll have you know, he had interest me first."
Phil laughed. They all caught up the whole night, telling stories, explaining things, just catching up in general.
Dan was happy to have his father back in his life for good.
