When we were young (a Starkid fanfiction)

Why can't it be simple

It was a new sunny day, that couldn't have started better, I was still in Joey's arms when we woke up. The school was as usual, and before we knew it, it was over and we were on our way to the mall. Brian and Tyler agreed to go to Brian's place, to smoke pot of course, Brian knew Tyler would never say no to that.

''So you guys go get the drinks, and we'll meet back at the car in an hour'' I said as we were about to split up. Me, Jaime, Bonnie and Lauren were to get Tyler a birthday present, and we had no idea what to get him. 

''So are we think clothes, eletronics, or just something funny?'' Jaime asked.

''I think clothes are not an option'' Lauren replied.

''I agree'' I added.

''Than something funny, but something special, something we're sure he doesn't have?'' Jaime continued.

''How about we get him a new surround system for the car?'' Bonnie suggested, ''you know how he's always complaining how the sound is not clean enough?''

''Yeah, and he does spend a lot of time in his car'' I said.

''Alrigh, let's go check that out then'' said Lauren and we started walking to an electronic store.

We asked the salesman and he showed us the newest type. It was a car cd player, that could fit five cd's and you could also put an usb in it, it was all touch screen, and you could set it to be any colour you want. With it you got four speakers, two smaller for the front of the car, and two bigger for the back. It was perfect, just what we needed. We bought it without even thinking.

''Finally'' Joe said when we got to the car.

''Shut up. This thing is heavy you know'' Lauren snapped at him. All four of us were carrying the present.

''What the hell? What did you get him?'' Joey asked, as they all looked confused and curious at the gift. It was already wrapped.

''Surround system for the car'' I replied smiling.

''Nice...'' Darren said.

''Yeah, it's totally cool, touch screen and everything'' Jaime replied proudly.

''And how is the sound?'' Joe asked.

''Um...we didn't check it our'' Bonnie said.

''What?'' all three of them shouted in disbelieve.

''Oh it will be fine'' I replied, ''the guy said it was the best. Don't worry.''

''Only a bunch of girls could do something like this. Buy a surround system without even checking it out'' Joey said shaking his head.

After argueing for another five minutes, we finally headed home. Joey, me and Darren however had to stop by the club first, to leave the drinks there. There was a lot of it so we couldn't really drive it around for three days. So Joey called Tyler's brother and asked him to meet us there.

''Ben'' I greeted him as we arrived, and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

''It's been too long since I've seen you Audrey'' he greeted back, ''how are you?''

''Excellent'' I replied smiling, ''and you?''

''Same as always, nothing new'' he said. I was pretty good with Ben, Tyler's brother, I actually even met him before Tyler. It was at the beginning of our freshman year, me, Jaime and Lauren were in some bar/club, sitting at a table when Ben approached us, and asked me if he could buy me a drink. I refused 'cause I was only fifteen and he looked at least five years older, later I found out that he is actually six years older. But he was persistent when I refused, that I had to blow him off in an not so polite way. And guess what, that impressed him, so he said he'll stop hitting on me, if we girls join him and his friends, for a nice, friendly drink. And we agreed. There we started chatting with the guys and we figured out they were actually pretty funny and interesting. And like promised, they didn't hit on us, they respected the fact that we were just fifteen, but they wanted to hang out with us never the less. They were a cool group, they remind me of our guys now.
