Days passed quickly, and tomorrow was the first day of school, the second semester that is. My leg healed, only a scar remained. Did I tell you we got into Chicago Daily Post, the newspaper? Yeah, because of the whole kidnap thing. It was pretty cool, they did a half a page article abouts us, and then even interviewed Jaime, Brian and me. Jaime 'cause it was her house of course, and she took it pretty well, looks like she got over the whole Robert thing. That's my girl, she has grown up. Brian told them all about how he hit his head, and ended up in the hospital. And me, well, that's an obvious one. I got shoot after all. I acted all emotional in the interview, but of course at the same time tough. It was really great, I was an actual star. Also, the trial is on Thursday, it'll be kind of awkward when I think about it, seeing Jason and everything. No one knows that we kissed except for the two detectives, but I guess they'll find out. I still haven seen Joey. I called him a couple of times but he didn't answer, and when the group met again, he didn't show up. Darren told me he's seen him, they hang out a lot, and apparently Joey is still a little hurt. That's not what I wanted to do, I feel horrible. However I did straighten things out with Darren, sort of, he's not really mad at me, or at what I did, he's just taking Joey's side 'cause they're best friends after all. And the rest of the group...everything's fine. We don't talk much about the incident, we just get drunk a lot and mess around like always. And Brian and me, we're happy and in love, that's all. Things are going great, for the first time we're in a real, official relationship.
Tomorrow morning. Time for school. I got up, took a shower, got dresses, did my make-up, you know, the usual. I made my way downstairs when I realized that Joey probably won't be driving me to school today. Great. Now it's back to driving with daddy. Oh well, no big deal.
''Morning'' I greeted my parents.
''Morning dear. Do you want breakfast?''
''No. Just give me some cookies or whatever, I'll eat on the way. Oh dad, you're driving me, right?''
''Why would I be driving you?'' ma dad asked confused looking up from the newspaper.
''Because I don't have a ride. Since me and Joey...you know.''
''But sweetie he's waiting for you outside, he stopped by just a minute ago to tell us.''
''Really? Okay. Weird. Well, I guess I better go then. See you!''
There he was, my parents weren't lying. He was sitting in the car, parked in my driveway. I approached slowly and got in, not knowing what to do or say, this is the first time I've seen him since the break-up.
''Hey'' I said quietly, not looking at him.
''Hey Audrey'' he replied in a normal, usual voice.
''Thanks for driving me, I didn't think you would want to'' I said after a few minutes.
''Why would you think that?''
''Well...'cause...you know...''
''Audrey...listen, I admit, I was mad at you, I still am a little. But we've been best friends since we were born, I think it's stupid to throw that away just because of a bad break-up. I don't know...I've been thinking, and maybe we're really meant to be only friends. We've tried and it didn't work, it's simple as that. Besides, you belong with Brian, you always did.''
''I don't know what to say. I thought you'd never talk to me again.''
''Don't be silly'' he smiled, ''it'll take time before things get back to normal, but we can work it out, right?''
''Definitely'' I smiled back, ''I do love you Joe Joe, don't forget that'' I said getting out of the car.
''I know. I love you too.''
