Sorry, this chapter was really short! I didn't really know what other details to include because the next chapter is really going to be the big one where lots of things happen [:

Chapter Ten

I was laughing and grinning to myself when a car pulled up beside me. Wait a minute, I remember this car. Actually, it was very hard to forget. After all, you don't see a Camaro driving around everyday. Paul winded down the window and stuck his head out of the car window, giving me a weird look.

"You look happy to see me," he smirked.

"Actually, I was happy before I saw you!" I exclaimed.

The grin was wiped off my face as I started to walk straight ahead, ignoring the fact he had parked his car on the sidewalk to bother me. I frowned as I walked off, muttering angrily to myself.

I could hear the car door open as I continued defiantly walking down the pathway with my handbag clutched close to my side.

"Wait, wait up!" Paul said to me, putting a hand on my shoulder, holding me back.

I turned around and shot him a sturdy glare.

"Are you seriously mad?" he questioned.

"Of course," I replied, pulling my shoulder free from his grip.

He jogged in front and stood in my way.

"What do you want? Seriously!" I said in frustration.

"Even though you're cute, I can't stand you being angry at me!"

"Eh!?"

"Just stop for a minute okay?"

"You have a minute." I replied, looking at my watch before stopping.

"Why did you stop working at the modelling agency?"

"Isn't it kind of obvious?"

"Well, you're short and you have a figure-less body..."

Oh, that is it. I gave him a glare and walked around him before continuing to fast walk past the countless old, dark red buildings with paint peeling off.

The trees seemed to sway in the opposite direction to me, the wind blowed against my face, even nature seemed against me today. I gave a sigh as I continued walking.

In the distance, I could hear a loud car approaching, the engine somewhat spluttering. I had to turn around now. There was only one car that made a sound like that- Derek's car. Do I turn around to face the guy who's been showing off his looks for the last few minutes, or run into the one that's probably going to do worse than brag?

I set my pride aside and turn around to walk again.

"Ah, finally. You couldn't resist my looks, right?" he said, flashing a smile at me.

"Hide me!" I said.

I ducked behind him, holding onto the shoulders of his coat. I glanced out a bit, only to discover my hiding spot wasn't very good. Derek had clambered out of the car and was heading towards me.

"Ah, right. Isn't this your...boyfriend?" Paul asked, turning around to talk to me with a smirk.

"Don't talk to me! Keep looking forward!" I hissed. "And he is not my boyfriend!"

"Ah, making yourself available to me I see?"

"Whhaaat!? You're unbelievable..." I scoffed, pulling myself out from behind him just to be able to yell at his face and not his back.

"Cathy!" Derek yelled.

"It's all your fault he saw me!" I shrieked, slapping Paul on the shoulder.

"You jumped out voluntarily!" he cried out, defending himself. "But you have strange taste. You'd prefer a blonde with blue eyes to me?" he asked.

"What? HE'S TALL." I replied.

Why was I defending Derek's looks anyway? I never thought he was ugly. In fact, he was actually rather good looking. I just didn't like him because he was a complete jerk. Paul, on the other hand, looked pretty much like the opposite. He had dark brown hair that was swept to the side at the front, but was slightly spiked up at the back. His eyes were also a dark brown.

"Ah, defending your boyfriend I see?" he asked, stroking his chin that was beardless.

"I need to run, he's gonna try and kill me."

"If you guys aren't going out, what's the deal with you two?"

"I'll explain later, one day, or maybe never." I laughed as I started walking quickly down the street.

"Hey wait," he said, grabbing my arm, spinning me around.

"You know, he'll catch up soon!" I said, trying to pull my arm free of his grip.

"Do you really want to get rid of him?" he asked, with a mischievous smile plastered across her face.

I looked at him cautiously, wondering just what kind of ideas he had in his mind.

"Think fast," he laughed, "he's headed this way."

"...Yes?" I replied as though it were a question.

Within seconds, he pulled me in with a swoop and his arms were wrapped around my back. I stood there, breathless...
