Cause I just want to keep blaming Lang Leav.
Nadine arrives at the office parking lot and immediately sees James's car parked next to Luis.
She lets out a long, deep sigh and her heart begins to race.
She gets out of the car and straightens her shirt. She walks confidently and happily in the office, masking the intense pain she is feeling inside.
She has already allowed herself to be vulnerable once and she will not let that happen again.
The elevator doors open and she quickly spots James standing in the hall taking to Luis and Jude.
Her heart beats even faster, and she can feel some sweat forming in her back and forehead.
She wipes her forehead gently with her left hand and forces a big smile. She walks slowly towards them, smiling from ear to ear.
"Goodmorning, gentlemen," she says. James blinks several times and looks at her from head to toe.
He cannot believe how calm and happy she is.
A part of him is happy to see her doing well, but a part of him feels sad and hurt that she is moving on faster than he is.
He forces a fake smile but he couldn't get his eyes off her. His eyes remained glued to hers, hoping that hers will drift to his so she can see everything he feels and wants to say.
However, her eyes never do.
"It's good to see you, Nadine," says Luis.
"You had me worried there for a minute."
"Sorry. I just had things to take care of," she answers smiling.
"Everything good now?"
"Yes. Everything's great. It was nothing worth my time and attention," she says bitterly, forcing a fake smile.
She looks at James and sees him looking right at her.
His eyes are filled with sadness and the longingness to be with her is clearly visible.
Suddenly, sadness comes over her and the need to hold him and be held by him is taking over, but she fights it; she fights it hard.
She scolds herself for still loving him, for not being able to hate him despite all of the pain he has caused her.
"Alright, I'll get going. I have tons of work to do. Now behave boys," she says flirtatiously, winking her left eye.
She walks away and James watches her.
He wants to hug her, kiss her; he wants to touch her and feel her touch.
He misses her so much; he misses the way her lips curl up when she smiles, how she squeals like a little girl when tickled and the smell of her beautiful long hair.
