Amber's POV

Today was the day that I was suppose to finally get out of here. It has been two days exactly since I have talked to Dr. Evans and I haven't even seen him. In fact the only medical person I have seen was my nurse Olivia.

I press the emergency button which summoned Olivia. She walked in smiling, in her purple scrubs that fit her petite body loosely.

"You have got to stop pressing that button! I told you that if you need something, use the phone!" She complained, her hands resting on her hips.

"Okay. I just wanted to speak to Dr. Evans." I sighed

"Actually Mr. Evans isn't in right now." She said as my eyebrows knitted in confusion. He never leaves. "I'll let him know when he gets back." She grinned.

"Anything else I can get you?"

"No thank you." I laid back against my pillows, closing my eyes.

"Um Amber?" I open my eyes to look at her and her face is unreadable. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure." I sit up giving her my full attention.

"I um .. I .. Remember about my date with your friend, Jake?" She asks and I nod. "Well I think it has been going pretty well." I nod again and she continues. "I was just wondering what he was into, like ideas that he might like to do, for our sixth date." She finishes and scratches the back of her neck, her face turning red like a tomato.

"Um .. I think he is very interested in cars. Building them and fixing them." I state. "Maybe take him to the local race track to watch the races?"

"You think so?" she questions and thinks about it before her face lights up and her hands clasp together in front of her. "Yes! That would be perfect! Thank you!" She beams.

"Its nothing." I smile, laughing slightly at her over-excitement.

"And listen about the other night.. when Harry was here." I mentally roll my eyes and whine at the mention of his name. "He loves you, you know that?"

"Like a friend. Its only friendly." I attempt to smile but fail.

"No. He loves you. I have never seen someone show this much affection and care towards just a friend. It is cute really." She clears her throat. "The way he comes up here to spend all of his free time, with you."

"He has a girlfriend. Its not like that. I've just known him for a while."

"Oh, but it is like that. The way he stares at you like-"

"Just stop." I whisper harshly cutting her sentence off. I don't think I can hear her speak much longer, feeding my thoughts with false hopes. I know he doesn't feel like that for me. Why cant people see we are only friends and nothing more.

"Okay. I'm sorry for bringing it up." She sighs and before I can say anything she has left and I start to feel bad.

I didn't mean to come off as rude or impolite. I hope I can get the chance to talk to her soon to apologize even though she was a bit out of line.

A few hours later, I'm sitting in the same position I was then and my body has become stiff. There is a knock on the door before Dr. Evans comes in and I immediately perk up.

"Hi. So did you do it? Can you get me out of here?" I whisper quietly, getting straight to the point.

"Yes. You are free to go." He says and I nearly jump up from the bed and hug him. Instead I stand and hop over to him to shake his hand and thank him repeatedly.
