I looked over to see dad enter the room. He glanced at me before heading straight for Blake. I sighed, hating how awkward it was for the both of us.
"Blake, you're okay." Dad sighed, letting out a breath of relief
"Of course I am." Blake replied, laughing
But his laughing soon turned to coughing which raised my concern. I stood up and brushed hair out of his face. Blake smiled sadly at me as if he knew every thought running through my mind.
"Alli, I'm okay. I promise." Blake assured
I nodded, sitting back down. Dad watched my movements like he didn't trust me. It was as if I weren't his daughter but some stranger sitting in his son's hospital room. My heart shattered but I wouldn't show it.
"Do you want us to wait outside, sweetie?" Jeanette asked
"You don't have too. I'm sorry that this must be extremely awkward for you." I apologized
"It's alright, Alli. We're extremely happy that everything turned out okay with Blake since he's obviously important to you." David replied, assuring
"Thank you." I whispered
Chase squeezed my shoulder and I sighed. Things aren't how I planned for them to be but I don't think I regret anything. In another universe, my dad isn't upset with me but I still stayed with Chase. In another universe, dad was mad at me but I still stayed at home. In another universe, I was home and dad wasn't upset. There are so many different universes where different events happened.
I looked over to see dad staring down Chase's family. Was he angry that another family was treating me so fairly? I was unsure of his feelings and thoughts.
"Dad, c'mon." Blake groaned
"What, Blake?" Dad snapped
"Don't glare at them because they're not being petty and treating Alli like family. What she did was wrong but it should never have gotten to the point where she's with another family more than you." Blake reprimanded
"She's the one that got angry and walked out!" Dad argued
"But you probably never contacted her to try and work shit out. Don't give shit to a group of people who don't deserve it especially since they've been keeping Alli safe. She could've been out on the street but she was with them. A roof over her head, food in her stomach, clean, and with nice people. Would you be acting the same if she were with Charlie or Max or Ashton? Or is it the fact that it's a family?" Blake interrogated
"You're my son. Don't think you can scold me." Dad glared
I had enough. They didn't need to be fighting and the Dixons definitely didn't need to overhear it.
"I'm leaving. I'll come visit later cause I'm not dealing with the arguing." I sighed, pushing myself out of the chair
"Alli-bear, you don't have too." Blake argued
"I'm creating tension between you and dad. You don't need that and they don't need to be witnesses. It's unfair to everyone." I shook my head, walking out
I kept my head up through the halls despite the tears that silently fell. The front doors slid open and the cool air hit my skin causing me to shiver. An arm wrapped around my shoulders and it wasn't who I was expecting when I looked up.
"Hey Henry." I smiled weakly
"You don't have to pretend that you're okay." Henry replied
"It's better for everyone that way." I shrugged
