Chase was leading me to the cafe that his mom told us to meet them at. Kinston had went his own way and it was just us two.
"Oops, my baby, you woke up in my bed. Oops, we broke up, we're better off as friends." I sang
"What?" Chase asked
"Now I accidentally need and I don't know what to do. Oops, I love you." I continued
"Dork." Chase murmured
"Hey!" I whined, hitting his shoulder
"There's no denying it." Chase shrugged, opening the door
The smell of coffee and chocolate hit me right as I walked in. I looked around in attempts to find his family. Chase grabbed my hand before dragging me into the cafe. I glared at him but took my seat, seeing as he found them first.
"Thanks for almost ripping my arm out of its socket." I grumbled
"You'll get over it." Chase retorted
"Rude!" I scoffed
"What do you want, Cinderella?" Chase questioned
"Hot chocolate, please." I smiled
"Course." Chase agreed, walking up to the counter
I looked over to find Jeanette smiling at me. Was my hair a mess? Something in my teeth?
"What?" I asked
"He likes you." Jeanette informed
"Yeah, right." I laughed
"I'm serious." Jeanette replied
"He could never like me." I refused
A styrofoam cup was set down in front of me as Chase took his seat. I grabbed the cup, sighing in content.
"Thanks." I smiled
"What were you talking bout?" Chase asked
"Nothing, darling. Just waiting for you to get back. What did you two do?" Jeanette asked
"Went to the park. Met this kid that hung with us for a while." Chase answered
I sat quietly as Chase conversed with his mom. I would've never pegged him as a mom's boy but, hey, can't judge a book by its cover. I looked around the small cafe and found myself enjoying the day out.
"Earth to Alli." Chase chuckled
"Hm?" I looked over at him
"You ok?" Chase asked
"Course. This has been fantastic." I smiled
"Good." Chase smiled back
I leaned onto his shoulder. I wasn't lying, either. Today has been one of the best days I've had in a long time. Henry chuckled, shaking his head a bit. I looked at him but brushed it off. I couldn't be bothered to figure out what his issue was.
"Can I help you guys with anything?"
"No, we're all good right now. Thanks." Jeanette smiled
"Alright, I'm around if you need me. And, Allison, you've definitely changed."
I looked up but could only see the back of his head. Who the hell knew my name?
"Did anyone see his name tag?" I asked
"Garret." Mr. Dixon, or as I now know David, answered
"Is everything okay?" Henry questioned
"Course. Garret can't hurt a fly. Forget about him." I shrugged
"So, Alli, I understand that you came from Ballston Spa. How was it there?" Jeanette mused
"Uh, different than here for sure. There were three times the amount of people at the school. But, it was really fun there with my group of friends." I rambled
"They're football team is really good, I've heard." David commented
"Yeah, C really does hold up the group. C was always able to hype everyone up and it just leads to a good game." I agreed
"We should go to a game at some point. You could catch up with everyone." Chase spoke up
"Yeah, that'd be a lot of fun." I nodded
"I think we ought to head back to our own town now." Jeanette said
Silently, we walked out of the cafe and down the sidewalk. It was peaceful as the birds chirped around us. I was a bit upset as I climbed into the car. This town was so lovely that it made me want to stay here.
The ride seemed to go by faster than it did on the way there. We pulled into their driveway and it was quiet as we headed inside. I climbed up the stairs and slipped into Chase's room. Whether he came or not wasn't my problem. The door squeaked open but it wasn't who I thought it'd be.
"Hey David." I smiled
David closed the door behind him as he came to sit by me.
"Not sure how long I have before Chase walks up here but I wanted to talk to you." David sighed
"Of course. Is everything okay?" I asked, concerned
"Yes, yes. It's about you and Chase." David stated
"There's nothing there but okay." I giggled
"He's a difficult character, I know. But, there's something about you that drew him in. Once he has his eye set on something then he doesn't give up. Chase will fight for you more than any other guy would." David rambled. "He has a heart of gold but it's just buried within his cold exterior. He cares for you. That much is obvious so please, don't mess around with my son. He's dragged girls along so some might say he deserves it but you're the first one to bring the spark back into his life."
"I would-"
The door opened abruptly before I could respond. Chase was panting, hands on his knees. I stared at him in confusion. Why the hell was he so out of breath?
"I heard dad was up here. Ran upstairs." Chase panted
I laughed, shaking my head at him. I slid out of his bed before grabbing his hand and dragging him over. Chase didn't fight as I shoved him down onto the mattress.
"Catch your breath. You're such an idiot." I sighed
"Hey! Offensive!" Chase exclaimed
"You'll get over it." I retorted
"Rude." Chase muttered
I smiled, ruffling his hair before facing David again. David had this soft smile on his face as he stared at the two of us.
"As I was saying, I would never. It's not something I could ever do." I assured
"I didn't think so. I'll leave you two alone now. Bye Alli." David replied, slipping out of the room
Chase pulled me down to lay beside him and I squealed in surprise. I pouted as he chuckled at me.
"You're so cute, Cinderella."
