Present day:
My name is Kim Hae Soo, I am a senior at Seoul University. I am here to tell the story of what happened between me and a certain other person who shall remain nameless until later on in the story. Even though all of you probably know exactly who I am talking about and have probably heard a ton of rumors and stories from the incidents that occurred our sophomore year of university. But I am here to tell the story, the real story.
Sophomore year:
I am just your average everyday university student, well maybe a bit below average. I have always preferred to keep to myself and ignore pretty much everyone else. Which probably explains why I don't have many friends. I only have one real friend in fact, Hye Gin. Hye Gin and I have been friends since our freshman year of university and we have been best friends since we met after we found out that we were roommates. We made a pact to always look out for each other since that is what friends are for. This pact included our golden rule of staying as far away as possible from the frat boys and sorority girls on campus. There are two types of people like that, those who are nice to your face and talk about you behind your back or those who will just flat out say what they think.
Those were two of the main reasons I avoided them at all costs. The girls were all fake and all about gossip. The boys would only try to get into your pants and then never talk to you again as if you had never even met. I had heard about that happening on many occasions around campus which is why I did my best to have absolutely nothing to do with any of them. As I thought about these things while walking with Hye Gin to our first class of the day, I had completely lost focus of what I was doing. That was until I heard Hye Gin yell " Hae Soo-ah! Watch out!!!" I finally snapped out of my inner monologue to see what she was talking about but by the time I did, it was already too late. I ran right into someone, causing them to drop their stuff and sigh.
"I am so sorry" I said as I leaned down to help them pick up their things. "Hae Soo, we are gonna be late." Hye Gin began to panic as the first bell rang, signaling that we only had five minutes to get to class. I turned to tell her not to worry but it was too late as she was already running towards the building in a rush. I sighed and turned back to the person I had ran into and continued to help them with their things. But things got a little awkward as we both reached for a book at the same time and our hands touched. I laughed quickly and shrugged it off as I pulled my hand away. "Again , I am so sorry about all of this" I said as I looked up to see that the boy was no longer wearing the black face mask that I had gotten a glimpse of earlier.
"It is okay, don't worry about it" the boy with the black hair. who I had to admit was pretty cute, said in a foreign accent. "You are not from here are you?" I asked as he stood up and offered me his hand which I accepted and stood up as he answered my question. "I am actually from China but I came here on a scholarship for dance." He said, his deep voice sending shivers down my spine. I had no idea why I was acting this way. Maybe it was the fact that he was extremely cute or that he had manners unlike the other boys. "Hey, I hate to run but do you happen to know where the office is?" He said, pulling me out of my thoughts. "Oh, it is that way and to your left. It is a small building but it should be pretty easy to find" I explained as I pointed towards where I was talking about to avoid confusion.
"Okay, thanks" he said as he bowed and rushed off in a hurry. "Wait! I never got your... name" I said, but he was too far away to hear me. I sighed and mentally slapped myself as I walked to class. As I walked into the little classroom, everyone eyes were on me, including the teachers. "Ms. Kim, you are late to class." He said as he crossed his arms and looked at me disappointingly. "I am sorry, it will never happen again." I said as I bowed and slowly walked to my desk in the back of the room next to Hye Gin. "What took you so long?" Hye Gin whispered as I sat down in my seat. "I was helping the new boy remember" I said.
"Oh, that boy. I bet he is super cute under that mask." She said as she turned back to her notebook. "He is" I mumbled to myself as I tried to hide my blush that was forming. But I did feel a bit of jealousy when she called him cute. Unlike me, Hye Gin had had a history of playing boys while I had still never even had my first kiss. I was worried that she would corrupt the boy or break his heart and that was something I definitely didn't want to happen. As I thought of this, I got a bit sidetracked thinking of how cute and innocent he was and the way his dark brown eyes seemed to sparkle in the sunlight. I stared off into space as I daydreamed about his eyes and his plump, seemingly soft lips and his deep voice. This was all before Hye Gin kicked my chair and snapped me out of it. I really needed to be more careful blanking out in public, I thought as I realized that I had been biting my lip. "Alright, this is our new student from China. Please make him feel welcome." The teacher said as I looked up to see the very boy I had been thinking of.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter and yes, all of the chapters will be kind of short but I will do my best to put a lot of effort into each one. Thanks so much for reading! There will be many fanfics ahead after this one. Saranghaeyo! ~Winney
