Things Change [Naruto AU]

The Akatsuki had reviewed the scrolls that were stolen and all agreed that the next trio they should try to recruit would be Team 10. There wasn't much dirt on them so the truth wouldn't be as painful but they still needed a way to get them. The pain they had suffered wouldn't do much and besides that it had only been 2 years after the death of the 3rd Hokage and, sure enough, Gaara was blamed. The Akatsuki was also under fault for recruiting such a ninja. The Uchiha in the Leaf village were fine but every now and then small arguments would come up, the leaders quickly handled it with Itachi playing peacekeeper. Before they could recruit any others they had one plan already in motion, this was for Kankuro.

The ones assigned to this mission were all of them but they were spilt into two teams. Team A consisting of Kankuro, Sakura, and Sasuke. Team B of Naruto, Temari, and Gaara. Team A were to take out Chiyo and Sasori while Team B provided back up and were to take out the Fourth Kazekage, if possible. It was a dangerous plan but all were willing to do so. They went into their groups and made their own way into the village.

Team A snuck in using Genjutsu and Team B watched from afar and didn't enter until it was necessary. Sakura and Kankuro hid close by Sasuke who used Genjutsu against those who resided there. Instead of seeing the Akatsuki member they saw a young woman who was dressed as a Sand Shinobi. He used this disguise as a way to meet with Chiyo. The disguise worked and he did meet with the old woman. As much as he could have taken her out he needed to wait and gain her trust. They waited for 2 weeks to do so. In this time Sakura and Kankuro found other places to hide while Sasuke alone went to see Chiyo. The final day with Chiyo they were working together on Sasori's poison, creating an antidote since they were having a shortage.

Sasuke quickly gathered all the intel on the poison and its antidote. Finally when the old woman turned to grab something from behind her Sasuke, still with the jutsu, pulled out a kunai and slashed the weapon at her. She tried to dodge it but being in surprised she still got wounded. She stared at her supposed loyal ninja. The girl in front of her shifted into the rogue nin, Sasuke. Chiyo froze but then boiled with anger. Before she could lash out with an attack Sasuke used his Sharingan and put her under a strong Genjutsu. This time he took information of her ways with puppets and stopped. She fainted and then laid in the ground unconscious. Just after that he did the only thing that was logical of him, kill Chiyo.

Along with taking the antidote, he reviewed the info and went back into the form of the female ninja. He met up with the rest of his team and told Kankuro about Chiyo's puppet style and some jutsu revolving around controlling puppets. The next phase of the plan was simple and to be carried out quickly. Team A moved on and then branched off again. Sasuke went in search of Sasori's family to use them as bargaining chips and Sakura went to aid Kankuro for when he'll fight with Sasori.

The pair found themselves at a large building. There were guards but their attacks were weak and they perished quickly. Upon entering they found the puppet master. He stood in the hall with an unamused look about his face and slightly irritated. His glare was full of hate, no doubt a high skilled ninja already told him of his grandmother. The fact that Kankuro was apart of it was angering as well. At first Kankuro was difficult to recognize but his old teacher saw straight through the face paint. Sakura went into a battle stance as well as Kankuro. Sasori was no different either, he used a scroll and summoned a puppet that was large and ugly looking that encased him.

Kankuro summoned his human puppet and had it hover slightly above and in front of him. Sakura waited behind until she needed. Kankuro used his puppet to attack the others back but failed when a scorpion like tail appeared and deflected it. Kankuro scowled and made his puppet attack another area of his master. This had the same result. He made another move that tried to avoided the metal tail but it was too fast and cut right through the human puppet and destroyed it.

Kankuro glared angrily at his teacher, this was expected to happen and just a test of his puppets abilities. He was mad but it was a given price to pay for a new puppet, one that would be better than before. He could almost see the horrid expression Sasori had from under his own puppet before returning to his somewhat emotionless self.

"So, Kankuro, you've turned people into puppets now. I am disappointed in you, I expected greater things from you other than this." Sasori's normal cold tone rang out.

"This is something great, Sasori Sensei, its art and its eternal. This is how I make the beauty of people be seen." The young ninja said aloud. Now instead of summoning another puppet he turned back to look at Sakura. She nodded her head when they made eye contact. The next attack would be quite different than before.
