In the morning, I woke up to the sun aiming on my body. "Finally, you woke up." Jess says. "I would have been up earlier, I was just so tired from yesterday." I reply, chuckling. I got off of the couch and looked around. "Okay, here's the plans for today." I say as she pulls up a chair. "First, we're going to look for supplies. Food, water, some weapons. Stuff like that. After that, if it's not too late, we'll go look for a vehicle. If it's too late, we'll just do that tomorrow. Got it?" I ask in case she didn't consume what I had said. "Okay, but where are we going to stay?" She asks. "Let's just stay here. It's a good house, in the middle of no where. Alright with you?" I ask, before she nodded in agreement.
"Let's get moving then. Have you eaten yet? Are you hungry?" I ask. "Nah, I ate something while you were asleep. I found a rabbit out back, damn that thing was good." She smiles. "Ate the whole thing." She continued. "Alright then, should we get going?" I asked, notorious of her answer. "Yeah, let's go." She smiles and grabs the pipe. I sigh and grab the gun, loading it up and dumping the rest of the bullets in my pocket.
As she went out of the house, I followed. "Where should we go first?" She asks. I looked around the area, and I seen a small trailer park. "This way." I say, nudging her with my elbow. After what seems to be miles, we reach a large glass building. "It's a greenhouse, may we check it out?" She requested. I look ahead at the greenhouse then back down at her. "Yeah, let's go." I smiled slightly. As we walked up, I started to get nervous. The look of this place wasn't good at all, most of the windows were cracked and broken. The plants from inside have overgrown and seeped out of the broken windows. She walked happily to the entrance. "Wait, Jess." I stop her. "Do not go in yet, I have my methods before doing this." I say, walking quickly over to her.
She stood there and looked at me. "Well, what's your method then?" She questioned with attitude. I look down at her, "Well, first, I bang on the door." I answered, before banging on the door. "Now, if you hear groaning and crashing from the inside, there's biters in there. If not, you still should have your weapon readied just in case." I continued and readied the rifle. "Okay, there's no sound in there, let's go in." She says eagerly. I nodded and busted the door open with my foot. "Ladies first." I say, motioning her to go in.
She shook her head as she looked inside. "I ain't goin' in there first!" She complained. "You go first!" She continued. I sighed slightly and nodded, before going in. After I walked inside, I looked around a bit. Seeing both dead and alive plants. Most of the walls were covered in vines. "There's most likely weapons in here. Look for any gardening tools." I commanded to her. She nodded and we both went our seperate ways throughout the building.
The path I had taken, was very odd. It seemed more mossy and dark. Looking around, I found a hand rake. I set it in the side of my pack along with the rifle. "Jess, you find anythin'? I found me some sort of small rake!" I call to her over the wall of over grown plants. "Yeah, I found a shovel, in good shape too." She replied, about ten seconds later. I continued down the aisle and spotted some tomatoes. I stopped to pick them, finding the good ones. "Jess, I found some tomatoes!" I call out to her. She said something, I couldn't hear her though. That's when I seen a biter come from the vines up against the wall.
I got up and tried pulling out the hand rake. But of course, I put it in with the spikes first, leaving it to get stuck. Thinking fast, as it it stumbled over to me, grabbing ahold of me. I panicked and threw it to the hedge. I looked around and found a watering can. The biter rose up again and I hit it upside the head, knocking it over again. I pick up my pack as two more peer around the corner. "Jess! Let's go! There's a lot of biters coming!" I yell to her. I hear her grunting and struggling, sounding like she was trying to get one off of her. I kicked one down, that was getting too close, before running to the other side of the plant wall. I run over to her, as there were three surrounding her, one of them grabbing her arms. I push one away, knocking it to the floor and cracking it's head on the cement. I then look over to the one who had grabbed her arm, break it's leg, and pushing it to the floor. "Let's go, Tommy!" She cries, tugging my arm. I nodded and followed her out of the greenhouse.
"There's way too many of them.. What do we do?" She says, out of breath. I look at the horde making their way up to the greenhouse, towards us. "This way, Jess." I say, signaling with my head to go up the ladder that was next to us. She nodded and followed me up. "Look at all of them, Tommy.." She says as we reached the top. "Shall we stay up here for the night?" I ask. She looks around, seeing it was already sunset and then looks at the horde below us. "I-I guess.. I mean.. Is it safe?" She asks nervously. I look at the horde and then back at her. "They can't climb, we're safe." I say. She manages a smile and looks around on the roof. "Okay, then we'll stay up here. Do you think they'll be gone in the morning?" She asks. "They should be, if they're not, then we can lure them away." I replied. As we got our sleeping bags set up, we sat outside of them, eating the tomatoes we had found. After that, we got covered up, and she started to fall asleep.
