The sun had risen from the horizon by the time they reached a sign of life. A large wall made of various metal and wood parts surrounded a small compound.
Outside the wall were two people holding guns. They looked at Ryo and Genesis suspiciously as they approached, but then relaxed as
they realized who it was. One of them whispered to Ryo, before opening the gate.
Inside were little shacks made of the same materials as the wall. Some were right next together, or layered on top of each other, only accessible by ladders or makeshift stairs.
The place was quiet, everyone was most likely asleep. Genesis felt tired herself, she had stayed up, not knowing that she wouldn't get any sleep.
Ryo guided Genesis toward the middle of the compound. There sat a shack that was bigger than the others around, it had a small porch as well. Ryo pushed open the broken wooden door, and it swung open at an angle.
"Ryo? Is that you?" A voice called from inside.
"Yah." Ryo ushered Genesis inside. A face appeared around the corner, a girl who was taller than Ryo. She had black hair like his,
put up into a bun. This must be Ira, Ryos sister.
"Who's this?" Ira asked staring down at Genesis. "I sent you to pick up a weapon, not a little girl."
"I am 19." Genesis rebutted stepping forward. Ryo shot a hand out in front of her.
"This is Genesis." Something changed in Ira's face.
"You've got to be kidding me. Glin's biggest secret project is a girl?"
"Yes, apparently."
"What's so special about her? Can she fly or something? Shoot laser beams?" Ira crossed her arms.
"I don't know." Ryo looked over at Genesis. "So far all I know is that she's survived a Reaper." Ryo pointed at his left eye.
"Survived a Reaper? That it? Do you know what you're good for?" Ira glared at Genesis.
"If I did, then I still wouldn't tell you." Something that sounded like a growl came from Ira. Ryo ignored them both and headed through a door way.
"Ira?"
"Yes?" Ira took her attention away from Genesis.
"Do we have any medical supplies?"
"Oh my god. Ryo. What happened." Ira ran through the same
doorway Ryo had. Genesis looked around. The room was mostly
bare, except for a foldout chair and two wooden chairs that looked unstable. The room was scarcely lit by lamps that were hung on the walls.
Genesis heard commotion in the room over. She ignored it and continued looking over the room.
Behind her was a large mirror, that was hazy and broken in some parts. Genesis looked at herself. She still had on her white dress, but now it was dirtied. She had on Pearl coloured socks with large white lace, and her grey boots.
Ryo walked back into the room, his arm wrapped in cloth. Ira followed behind him.
"Well I suppose you aren't going back to the city." Ira sighed. "So welcome to Viowood. Ryo show her to someplace she can sleep." Ira mumbled.
"Right, this way." Ryo led Genesis back outside. He showed her to a little shack. It didn't have a door, just a curtain that was sewn from different fabrics.
