I sat on a rock watching the humans run and laugh on the beach they were amazing . My sparkly black and purple tail gently splashed the water with the little kids the towns people didn't mind me too much they thought I was good luck. It made me very happy sometimes I would bring the people little gifts like rare shells and rocks in return they kept me safe . Until a stranger showed up. He walked on the beach like he owned the place I stayed on my rock and pulled one of my scales out because a little girl really liked them so I gave it to her with a smile as she ran to her mother giggling. I saw him snatch it from her then look at me with a scary look in his blue eyes as he pulled some kind of weapon out . I dove under the water and swam fast as I could I was scared my normal brown eyes had turned purple with fear as I saw him try to swim after me or at least I thought it was him but I hit my head on a boat and passed out only to wake up hours later on my rock with the boy sitting with me .
" I gave it back to her so don't worry and I'm not going to hurt you ." He smiled " sorry for scaring you I just got a bit excited I always knew mermaids were real!" He got excited stroking my tail making me blush " can we be friends ?" He asked softly and I nodded
