Chapter 15: Hikaru's POV

I walked along the roads in the town, alone...I looked around at all the people...wondering.....

"Hikaru?"

I heard a voice call to me. I turned to look and saw Haruna looking at me, and smiled...I smiled back at her and walked to her.

"What's up, Haruna?"

"Is...is everything okay...? You don't seem like yourself...don't think I'm creepy, but....I've been following you around town all day and you just don't seem like yourself...."

I looked into Haruna's eyes...and started to wonder about her....

"W-well....I was just thinking today..."

I pulled out my sword and looked at all of the engravings and markings in it....

"What all of this isn't real...? Everything Kayaba said, what if he lied? And we can't really die in real life? What if he's just messing with us...."

I felt Haruna's hand gently hold my shoulder....

"I guess we won't find out until we get out of here..."

She said, trying to lift my spirits...

"But...what if it is real...? And how much have people lost in this world....how many people...have lost their lives in this game....and for what.....?"

I glanced down at a small stone on the ground that said "RIP Mimi" engraved on it....

"Well...we just have to hope for the best Hikaru.....I promise we'll all make it out of this....even if it isn't exactly in one piece...we will make it out..."

I felt her hugging me....I turned to her and wrapped my arms around her....I closed my eyes for only a second....and I heard the sound of a blade stabbing flesh....I opened my eyes immediately and saw a player who had just stabbed Haruna.....I let go of her and ran straight after him. I knocked him down and pretty much beat him down to nothing....

"Why did you do that?! What is wrong with you?!"

I was very relieved when I remembered that player's HP cannot drop at all while in town....Haruna walked up beside me and crossed her arms...the man revealed his arm, and showed the laughing coffin tattoo....for some reason I was able to see all of his stats, and learn his level in less than two seconds....he's very strong. Seems to be a leader of some kind....

"Hey, let's duel."

Haruna looked at me confused...

"W-what?! Why?"

"Yeah...why, Legend?"

The man hissed at me...I looked him straight in his eyes.

"Let's duel. If I win, you and your pathetic guild stay away from Haruna forever. You win, and you get to take my life."

The man looked at me in shock. He seemed pretty confident though, and stood up to me.

"You're on, Legend"

Haruna stepped back, away from the fight. Me and this other player turned and walked a good distance away from each other. I sent him the duel request, and he accepted....the timer started to go down, as I drew my sword. If this is anything like when Haruna and I fought....then I might need to use two swords again....

He rushed out straight towards me with nothing but his dagger.....he went to stab me, but I knocked his dagger down, and slashed him on the cheek, removing a lot of his health, and kicked him away.

"Argh! Jeez....alright no more Mister Nice Guy here."

He rushed towards me once more, but I punched him right in the face, and stabbed him in the chest. His HP depleted completely. And the duel ended. I backed away, and put my sword away.

"N-no way! H-how is this possible?!"

I sighed, and kicked him onto the ground.

"Now go tell those murderers not to even look at Haruna anymore. Or else I'll go kill all of you myself."

He stood up and ran away....
