Chapter Six
DEREK
We walked to the door and I opened it for her, we walked in and walked to a booth in the back. We sat and as we got situated a waitress came over.
"Hey there, what would you like to eat?" She smiled at Y/N and as her eyes moved to me raising an eyebrow. I noticed she was looking me up and down and I knew when I was getting checked out and it was clear she didn't care if I noticed, that was when I heard something quiet... come from Y/N, it was a low scoff and I saw her roll her eyes hard. If I was being honest, if looks could kill the waitress would have been dead already, Y/N leaned into her chair and said easily.
"A burger with a chocolate milkshake." Then she looked at me dead in the eyes, she was acting weird.
"Um... I'll have the same thing." I said with a smile, Y/N scoffed again but this time when I looked at her, her eyes were on me, an annoyed look, when the waitress lef, I looked back at her and she was looking out the window.
"Y/N what's wrong?" I asked she looked at me with sad eyes, and she shrugged.
"I don't know, nothing I guess," she sounded genuine and when the waitress came around again to give us our plates she winked at me, I looked at Y/, she was watching me, her face was interesting and I couldn't tell when the expression she had.
"I have a question," I said slowly.
"Yeah?"She mumbled she sounded upset but also like she was trying to hide it, though I could smell it on her.
"Do you know what a mate is?" I asked. Because of her past i dont know if her father would have educated her on anything after the fire and before that she would have been considered to young.
"Yes?" She squinted.
"Okay well, do you know what it means to have a mate?" I asked again cautiously.
"Yes?" She was suspicious of why I was bringing this up I could tell.
"Okay, I bring this up because I have something to tell you," I explained.
"Okay?" She muttered she didn't seem to know where I was going but she looked oddly upset.
"I think... God this is hard... I think- no I know I found my mate," I said looking at her and waiting for a response... She sat there in silence.
"why'd you tell me this?" She said seemingly irritated.
"Because-" She cut me off abruptly.
"Because what Derek? You must be dumb. Or just an asshole." she groaned out. "I'm the dumb one. I gotta go." She stood up, taking out her wallet and threw a 20 down and headed to the door.
"Fuck." I groaned and stood also I pulled out my wallet and threw a 20 on the table, I quickly ran after her.
"Y/N. Please just listen!" I called after her as she was almost halfway down the road already.
"Nope!" she yelled back still speed-walking away as I jogged to catch up. She was angry at something and I thought that something was me.
"I think you're taking this the wrong way," I called again, she stopped and turned around to look at me.
Y/N
"Thinking wrong how Derek? You think that I would get along with your mate? That I could play nice with whoever it is because we have a past? Icant do that for you. I'm not sharing because if someone else has you, I can't stand it. I like you! I've liked you since we were little and I just barely understood what a crush was." I confessed with heavy breaths. Mu fists were clenched and he stood staring at me. "I can't do that Derek. I won't." I whispered. He seemed to not know what to do or even hold himself because next thig I knew he was in front of me grabbed me.
"Y/N, Y/N calm down please" he used his hand and took my chin and move my face to look at him and that was when he kissed me, I was shocked *why was he kissing me* he was kissing me, he wouldn't be kissing me if I wasn't his mate, Me his mate? what if? he pulled off
"why'd you do that?" I asked
"Because you are my mate," he said
"I am?" I asked but instead of saying yes or no he said
"I Love You Too Mate" I smiled at his words
"now do you wanna go and eat somewhere else?" he asked I nodded
"ok come on," he said again I smiled he grabbed my hand gently when we stood up he went to move away, I pulled his arm towards me when his body turned towards mine I grabbed his leather jacket and kisses him on the lips it took him about a second to kiss back but he did we stood there for a few seconds in that kiss when we parted I smiled
"how about we just go back home?" I asked
"why?" he asked
"I want to spend time with you," I said
"ok" we held hands the entire way home.
