Chapter Three

The next morning I woke up on a mission, his smell was still in my nose and I needed to smell it again, I needed to see him. I got up and got dressed as fast as I could but in a flattering outfit. I jumped down the stairs.

"Where do you think you're going, young lady?" I heard Mom. I stopped and turned.

"May I go to a friend's, please?" I smiled and she smiled fondly and almost teasingly.

"Yes, you may." She chuckled and I clapped and ran out the door grabbing my bike and jumping on and speeding off, I knew the woods like the back of my hand. I took a shortcut and skidded into the dirt jumping off my bike and smelling his scent.

"Derek?" I huffed out of breath and the house was nearly silent other than the now rapid heartbeat.

"Y/N?" I heard his deep rough voice. It sounded nothing as I expected. I turned around to see him in the living room, I felt my heart flutter, he looked so different, he aged a bit and it was... Attractive. He was staring at me as I stared back.

"Derek..." I laughed not hesitating to run up to him, I launched myself into his arms, and we stood there holding each other, my feet barely touching the ground. His face nuzzled into my neck taking in my scent and I was pressed into his shoulder so tight I couldn't smell anything but him, we were so focused on one another that we didn't care what was happening around us and when we did pull back, I grabbed his face looking at the new parts I didn't recognize and the old ones that always stayed the same, we were just looking at each other.

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you." He whispered looking at me. I chuckle, our time was cut short in a sudden moment. Police were yelling at the door before bursting in.

"Both of you! Put your hands behind your head!!" The officer yelled we pulled from each other slowly with our hands raised, we did as we were told and were escorted to the Sheriff's car, Derek was put there and I was shoved in a separate one, I looked up before being put in and saw my brother and Stiles, I sent a mean glare at them right before I was shoved in, the officers walked away, and I was so angry I had to focus only not on losing control, I didn't pay mind to anyone else as I slowed my breathing. The drive was silent until we got to the Sheriff's department, we were put into a holding cell together and I didn't mind it that much.

"Y/N... I'm so sorry about this," Derek spoke softly walking up to me.

"This isn't your fault, Derek. This is my idiotic brother and his dimwitted friend's fault," I grunted annoyed, crossing my arms angrily. I looked at him and he was staring at me. I bit my lip nervously rubbing my hands together.

"I missed you." He muttered softly immediately changing the subject. I felt my cheeks begin to warm up. I smiled softly and rubbed my hands together more.

"I missed you too..." I smirked. "Der Bear," I said cheekily at the childhood nickname, I moved to the bed and sat down crossing my arms.

"You okay?" He moved to sit next to me and I chuckled nodding.

"Gonna sleep, I could barely rest last night thinking about you..." I whispered and he chuckled nodding, he pulled me under his arm.

"Excited to see me," He said smiling.

"You have no idea," Ihummed slowly dozing off to sleep. The dream I had wasn't very different from the rest of the ones I have had since the fire.

It was dark and storming that night. I was in the woods lying on the cold hard ground, looking up at his towering figure, my father had taken me out of school and was teaching me the "old ways" so sleeping on the ground wasn't new, and that night was always askew, dreams distorted my memories every night. "You're Useless. Good for nothing." My father reprimanded me as he yanked me to stand before backhanding me in the face hard, I yelped and stumbled back again. I was crying softly, to not anger him, I hoped he didn't notice but of course, he always did. He violently grabbed me by the wrist and yanked me to him roughly so I could meet his face. "See? You're weak. You're a crybaby and that's it! All you ever do is cry anymore and I fucking hate the sound of it!" he yelled shaking me, his hands were bruising me they were so tight, but of course, they would heal the moment he let go. I got angry, I hated how he treated me, and I shocked myself even with my response.

"W-well- Maybe I wouldn't cry so much
If you just asked like a and not a psycho!" I yelled back gaining weak confidence as I yanked myself, trying to break from his bruising grasp.

"Well then." He threw me to the ground. "If you didn't have my dead mate's face maybe I- I wouldn't want-," he covered his face, living without my mom destroyed this man to nothing and seeing my face was why he acted the way he did- he was suddenly dropping to his knees in tears, his tears were making me angry- he had no right to cry! I was losing control, All I see is red. it was like a switch flipped and I saw my father looking at distorted blood everywhere I looked at my hands I saw my claws covered in his blood... I ran my tongue along my teeth feeling my canines I looked up feeling my eyes change from my beautiful gold to my father's blood-red taking his place as the alpha... I looked at his mangled body he looked like he was attacked by an animal... tears fell down my face.

I woke up gasping, in a cold sweat, I could feel my heart beating rapidly, having to relive that night in night was getting tiresome. "Y/N?" I look over to see Derek next to me. "What's wrong?"He asked apprehensively, I huffed remembering what had happened before.

"Nothing. I'm good." I rubbed my head when suddenly Noah walked over.

"Y/N." He said and I got up rushing over.

"He didn't do it! I swear on it! Please, Noah." I begged and he sighed nodding.

"I know. Look, Scott won his game." He smiled and I smiled wide. "And the hairs on the body were Wolf's hairs. So you both are free to go." He said. "But I have some bad news." He said as he unlocked the doors.

"What?" I asked and he sighed.

"We identified the Body as Laura. Laura Hale." He said and I frowned deeply looking at Derek. His head was down and I grabbed his hand.

"Come on," I whispered pulling him. I looked at Noah. "T-Thanks Noah," I whispered and he nodded, as we passed him he grabbed me.

"Be careful." He whispered to me and I slowly nodded. "Your cars out front Derek." He said and Derek nodded. We went outside and climbed into the car, I sat there silently rubbing my thighs together. He was so warm and I couldn't understand why I wanted to be against him again.

"Y/N." He said as we pulled up the house... My house. "What was wrong?" He asked and I sighed. "You looked like you were having a nightmare," He stated concern written in his expression.

"That's because... I was... Der," I said slowly playing with my fingers. I felt so scared, to be honest.

"Do you mind sharing what it was about?" He asked his hand reached over and gently touched my thigh. I quivered at his touch.

"My Dad... Me." That was all I said on the topic. He sighed as he got out of the car, he walked around and opened my door gently pulling me out. I looked at him. He hugged me suddenly and I held my tears in as I hid in his chest. "Sometimes I think I'm a monster. It just feels that way."

"Y/N... You're not a monster..." He whispered pulling back to look at me I sighed and shook my head.

"That's the thing... I know I am... Derek, I know I can be," I looked down as tears filled my eyes threatening to leave.

"How Y/N? I have no clue how you could be." he hummed comfortingly touching my hair, he was genuinely wanting to know how I could think this way.

"Because... My eyes," I said slowly looking up at him, opening my eyes and revealing the Red glow of the Alpha eyes mixed with my tears.
