I hop on the smelly bus, throwing the bus driver a few dollars as I run to the empty seat behind the emergency exit- my seat. I feel a lump forming in my throat, and try to ignore it. Tris Prior- my sister? No way. No way, no way, NO WAY. The bus stops abruptly, and a boy clothed in black climbs up the stairs, and slides in next to me. I scowl, and hug my knees to my chest, the boy in black looks at me, shakes his head like he is hallucinating, and puts his face in his hands. I sort of recognize him, but can't quite tell. He's extremely attractive, and obviously a dauntless. His hair is cut like a abnegation, but I still don't exactly know where the older boy is from. Most abnegation ride the train. Huh. The weirdest part is that he looks older than 16. I'm snapped from thoughts when he stares into my eyes, and rubs his. Odd boy. I mean all dauntless are odd, but him... He acts like he knows me- like a painful memory is resurfacing. "How old are you?" He asks, voice deep, rugged. "16." I mumble, and he stares at me until we arrive at the school. He gets off, and follows me inside. Guards herd us off to the cafeteria. A few look at the boy in pity, and he goes into the testing room, a pretty dauntless woman with red streaked hair, talking to him. I shrug, sit at a table, and my two best friends- Dahlia, and Jace show up show up soon after. Jace looks at me, dark eyes filled with concern. "Skylar, are you. Alright? You've been staring off into space for six minutes." I shrug. "We'll talk about it later." I take a deep breath, and as soon as he starts to beg for me to tell him, Dahlia joining in my name is called. I shakily walk into the testing room, a dauntless woman with thick glasses, blood red lips, maroon red hair, and earrings that look like large black corks in her ears. "Sit here." She orders, and I follow her gaze- a steel chair. I stumble towards it, sitting in a seat which has a purple cushion on it. She reclines it, so I am staring at the ceiling. "Drink this. You will then start the aptitude test." She hands a blue liquid to me, and I take a swig of it, suddenly zapped to another place. A dog comes towards me, snarling, and slobbering. Cheese, and a gun sit on a plate. I go towards it, ignoring the things on the plate. I snap my fingers, and imitate a dog bark, sounding spot-on. It looks at me suspiciously. I continue to bark, and pat a seat next to me. The dog walks towards me. I take the cheese from the plate, and feed it to the dog, she chomps on it, and I pet his ear happily. A little girl then speeds toward the dog, screaming, "Puppy!" Arms outstretched. "No!" I scream, throwing myself in front of the girl, and the dog speeds toward us. I scramble for the plate. Before I know what i'm doing, I pull the trigger of the gun, and with a BANG! It falls to the ground, limp. The scene shifts, and soon I am on a bus. A man looks me in the eyes, and says, "help. I'm on the run-i've been framed." I nod, and say, "I pick no side. But I have a safe place for you." We get off the bus, and a police points at us, and I exclaim, "He is innocent! Innocent, I tell you! This is his twin brother!" The police scratches his head, confused by my clever wordplay, and trying to save the "guilty" man. I pin the police down, take his gun, fire at him, and at the criminal. I suddenly wake up yo the same testing room. The woman who was the one who tested me looks sick. "This isn't good." She says, face paling. "Your results were inconclusive." I look at her with an arched brow. "What do you mean?" I ask, freaking out. Her voice lowers to a whisper. "It means you're something called...divergent. You can manipulate the serums."
