"Ikira!" I screamed, cupping my hands around my mouth to make for a more louder result. All I received was the sound of the trees rustling against the wind. I clutched my jaws together tightly in anxiousness, turning my head in every direction.
It had been almost an hour since I followed the scented trail, and it seemed as if it would lead me to nothing. I would keep walking, knowing that I was getting closer to something, but nothing seemed to show up.
"Ikira, where are you?" I rasped out, fear gripping at me like chains. I didn't know what to think. Did she leave? Was she lost in the forest? Did someone attack her? All of these questions buzzed through my mind by the masses.
I still kept on wandering on. I wasn't going to give up, feeling that something truly wrong was going on. My feet and instincts led me to softer grounds where the grass was dry and overlapped by moss and dead leaves.
I looked up, trying so hard to find some sign that would give away even a sliver of an answer. Trees were surrounding me, the light from the sun blazing through any opening that the green leaves would give away. No birds were singing, so the only noise that could be heard was the wind whispering across the valley.
"Hey you," a soft voice broke the silence around me. I whipped my head around, trying to find the source of the voice. A desperate whimper escaped my mouth as I could recall the her tone. I look around to finally see a figure standing tall among the brush.
It was her. She had a closed mouth smile and her arms were crossed around her chest. She was looking straight at me as I began to walk up towards her. "Oh, my god! Where have you've been? I was looking all over for you!"
She giggled lightly, "Sorry. I just got held back by something." I stopped abruptly in my tracks, jolting harshly. I looked at Ikira in slight confusion as her tone caught me off guard. I wasn't sure if my mind was playing something sick, but I was sure that the way that the female spoke was not her usual self.
I cautiously took two steps forward, still keeping my eyes on her. "Are... you all right? You seem a little off." What I got as a reply was nothing short of frightening.
She lowered her head, giggling even more than before. Her lower jaw moved in such unnatural ways that I was in shock. The noise that she made was nowhere near like her normal laughter, it carried a menacing cackling as it grew louder.
Abruptly, she jolted her head right up and stared at me with a crooked smile on her face. That's when I looked at her eyes and gasped shakily. The once green bright eyes that were full of determination and pure life were gone. Now there was a masked paleness in them, a dulled, dried green with small black pupils.
I felt as if my heart dropped and crumbled into my stomach. My breath came out staggered and uneven as I saw the girl that I once loved possessed by him. Her voice came out deeper and her body seemed to quiver. Her chuckling was becoming more masculine by the second.
A sigh came from her mouth, "Now, this is a body that was definitely a challenge to attach. But my, was your priceless reaction worth it!" The voice stung with recognition.
"What have you done to her?!" I screamed at him, the monster that was inside of my mate's body and mind. I barred my teeth in fury, but not daring to charge at the brown wolf.
It chuckled at me, lifting her head higher with satisfaction, "She is under my control now. Your sweetheart is no longer able to control her body, and is now a prisoner in her own mind."
Suddenly, she convulsed harshly. Her back cracked in an uncomfortable matter, a painful screech escaping her throat. I could see that she was trying to fight this. When she averted her eyes to me, I caught the small sign of life.
