Unknown Dream

They text each other every night
in hearts and blissful butterflies,
they dream of one day living
in the same room every night.
But one night she falls asleep
without saying goodnight,
and it becomes so common
that the routine has fallen.

They spend the first night together in bed
and slowly fall asleep.
He kissed her forhead as she dozed off
and says "goodnight my queen."
But night after night they go to bed
and slowly drift apart;
the kisses begin to lessen
and they sleep as if they're far.

She slowly begins to worry
what he dreams at night
when she curls next to the wall
and he turns to the other side.
She dreams of him forgetting
and leaving her behind,
for some nights when she's waking
she feels alone inside.

She would always wonder
yet never ask until the end
what it was he dreamed
in their conjoined forlorn bed.
He tells her that he dreamed of
her leaving him behind
and layed awake in bed at night
worrying if she's alright.

They simply should have spoken of
their woken, silent dreams,
and held each other every night
without an unknown, reason-less fright.

Of course the story is a dream
and where my steps may fall will lead
this story to an end of fear
or one of peaceful and quiet cheer.
