We are
Pushed around,
Shaken down,
Beaten brown,
And when we scream
They laugh,
They point,
They cheer at our pain.
We believe our soul
Was broken long ago,
Was burned in dying fires
That soon rained ashy snows.
We are told that we are different.
We should die.
Burn in hell.
We believed them,
All those voices,
Then through those words
I heard a bell.
A screeching laughter,
Ear shattering,
Heart wrenching,
Head pounding,
And I realized,
And I knew.
What if it were different?
What if in our pain
All that they can ever imagine
Is themselves
Running away?
What if they're afraid of us,
Our honor,
Our heart?
What if they all fear that if
They die
We might live on?
Who are we,
The weak,
The strong,
The dark,
To run away?
Who are they
To see us all
In any other way?
What they can't see
Is the difference they make
In them self
And We.
Through the pain
We faught in vain,
Our lives we would release.
If they could see
How they hurt me
And broke your beating heart,
They would care
Would never stare
They wouldn't fall apart.
Surely they
Are big enough
To turn
And walk away.
Of course we
Won't turn to death
Who whispers
Our release,
Who promises
The voice will cease,
If only we could leave.
Take his hand
Turn away
And leave this world behind,
Because their words
Have made us strong,
So we can live through life.
But what is life
If we can't live
With love
And without hate?
If we turn
To talk again
Will our words be great?
Maybe we
Who live this life
Are purest,
Are strongest,
And we will live longest,
Because we are the peace.
Those who die,
Who take their life,
Can never be replaced.
But they were pure,
They were perfect
And couldn't take the weight.
So now it's up
To me and her
The two who don't fight death,
But keep him in their closet
To await
For their last breath.
Now he waits,
He won't escape,
He waits there for
The pure.
He may wait there
Forever,
But one day we'll die
For sure,
For death is always pleased,
Dear always gets its prey,
It doesn't ever matter
How long they run away.
But me and her
One day we will
Just leave and walk away,
And all the others
Breath will burn,
Their life will leach,
Their skin be bleached,
As they are dragged away,
If only there were some way
That they could all be saved.

This one was really long, sorry about that. It is the first poem I ever wrote about death, and it is one I enjoy, so despite its length, I thought I'd share. Hope you enjoyed.
