Kyungmi is sitting on the couch in her livingroom. She is waiting for her mother to return from the hospital which is actually nearby her house, only 10 minutes or so. She always user to walk pass it when she went to school but she never thought one of her family members would end up there. Unfortunately she was wrong because her mother has been there for over 4 months now.
She can feel the nerves trough her whole body while she hopes the doorbell would ring, she is totally done waiting! She can't take anymore excitement and nervousness, you can see it from her body language: she can't sit still and she keeps on looking out of the window while she plays with the fabric of her shirt.

My phone rings. 'Holy shizzles...' I gasp. I quikly search for my phone and see that Sunhee is calling me. 'Heeeelloooo!' I hear from the other side of the line when I answer the phone. Unintentionally, I smile. 'I just wanted to check if you're alright. Is your mother home already?' she asks and I hear she is really concerned.
Sunhee is a caring person which I really appreciate. Especially in times like these. I sometimes wonder what I did to deserve her.
'No not yet, she could be here any minute now.' I really hope she doesn't my trembling voice.
On that moment the doorbell rings and as I expected, it scared me. Sunhee probably noticed it because I can hear her laughing. After quickly saying goodbye to her I rush to the door.
My mother is brought by two nurses. That's because I don't have a father or another family member who can pick her up. My mother once told me that my father left her for someone younger and prettier than her when she told him that she was pregnant. She told me she cried for days, ate lots of icecream and watched sad movies untill she realised she deserved better.
I never met my dad but I believe he is the biggest jerk in the whole universe. That, ofcourse, because he left my mother without any good reason and I really care too much about my mother to forgive him. It would be nice if he had tried to come in touch with me, even if it was only once.
While the nurses are taking care of my mother, I'm making her a cup of her favourite tea as a warm welcome. I sit next to her on the couch while the nurses are telling me what kind of medicins my mother needs and when. 'I'm never going to remember this.' I think. Luckily, they soon give me a piece of paper which contains all the information I need.
When the nurses left I start to ask my mother all kinds of questions, I want to know everything my mother can remember. I couldn't go visit her because I was super busy with school and all kinds of household chores. Besides, some things are too hard to explain trough texts.
'Did you fully recover? How do you feel? Did they do surgery's? How did it go?' I speak without noticing it might be a little uncomfortable for her. But my mother puts a tired but true smile on her face and anwers all my questions patiently.
We were just talking about her last surgery when the doorbell rings. I open the door and see it's our mailman. He hands me a letter. 'It looks pretty important, huh?' I ask him. I admire the stamp on it. It's a very neat logo which I don't recognise. 'Yep they wanted me to deliver it personally to you Miss.' Miss? Why does he call me Miss. all of a sudden. I used to talk to him all the time when I was a little kid and now he calls me Miss? Well, it doesn't matter, for now. I nod and wave him goodbye as he walks away. I close the door and run hastily to my mother who is just as curious as I am, she followed our conversation from out of the livingroom. I open the letter and while reading it my jaw drops. 'What the...?' I say.
