An hour earlier before I buried myself in the earth."Can I get you a drink?" Jena asked.
"No, I'm fine," I replied. "uhm, how 'bout Coke? I'll have to say that my tummy's not in the mood, Jena."
"Sure, why not? Coke." She chuckled as she begin to sway her way to the bartender.
Gosh she's pretty good in roller skates. She should dance. She should dance with somebody. We've been close friends with Jena the time I was a freshman at Libertine High. She's like everybody's "it" girl. Popular. Beautiful. Smart. Strong. And a human, just like everyone else. And speaking of her skating moves, she really is a good dancer. Not like any dance moves I've seen and tried at Strano Academy, my alma mater, my coven, my home.
At the academy, we were not taught how to dance like we're in parties; we do ballet steps that I believe, were already a hundred years old. That's because culture in the 1700s were very polished and intricate."Hey, you should go dance." I said to Jena as she was rolling towards me and passed the Coke. "Thanks for the drink."
"Kath, I already did." She replied.
"I mean, you should go dance with somebody," I started to louden my voice as the music started to dominate the whole place. "It'll be fun." I said as I gulped 1/2 of the whole coke. I must be really thirsty by now.
"Kath, don't tell me you're making me dance with Barry," she begged to me like a little child. "He's my ex, and so what?" she added.
I chuckled a little bit, trying to ignore whether I've finished the whole bottle of coke or not. And as I looked at it, it was already empty. Jena looked at the bottle I was holding, then to me. All in awe.
"Damn girlll.. Uhmm,. Can I get you another?" She said with a cheesy grin.
"Uhm, I think I'm fine. It's just the environment. I mean the place. So active. Lots of people moving. Makes me thirsty." I said, returning to her that cheesy grin. "I said you should go dance!" I exclaimed to her with excitement for the last time. "Not with Barry of course."
"You asked for it!" She laughed and smiled for a bit, then she was gone in the crowd.
The crowd that looks fierce with their retro 80s outfits. The crowd of girls that looked like mini-Madonnas. And the crowd of boys with their daring leather jackets. Such a stand out.
And also a crowd, by myself only. A crowd just at the corner of the room. With a girl, a vampire, who is trying to fit in with other girls, who's also wearing those big dangling earrings and neon leggings. But unlike the girls, I was one of the boys. I wear leather jackets. And I've loved them.I was relieved though, not because Jena was already out of my sight, but because I could already go outside and find some fresh air.
I hurried my way to the exit, hoping to stop the aching of my stomach. But it didn't stop. As I inhaled the open air, my stomach growled like it has never eaten before. Shit. I need blood.
I looked around, and just a mile, I found a woods. Dark. Tall trees. There. There could be an animal. Could be a deer. Or a rat. Over there. I ran with excitement as my stomach feels like it was waiting to be filled.
