Hiding was the only thing that popped up in my mind, as what I did was something heinous and was already a crime.

Escaping this world of mortality could be a way not to reveal my identity as a vampire. I was guilty of what I've done. I only kill mortals only when I get to drink its blood. But killing this boy is a way of not letting him go. Not letting him escape and let other human beings find me and hunt me down.

But still, the other one escaped. And he's coming back for this monster that I am, along with other humans, with their guns and stakes and crucifixes.

I sprinted and left the laying corpse on the ground. I sprinted away to find a place somewhere where I can reflect on what just happened. I sprinted in order to escape.

The hunt in the woods took so long, and that because of those two boys, it almost felt like an hour. I walked outside the woods, where all I can be is in the dark, misty highway. It's kinda unusual at that time that it was already misty. Although I can still see cars passing by. Just by seeing only their headlights glowing, it's hard to see the surroundings clearly with the mist already thickened, and fog was formed.

I walked. And walked. In the sidewalks. As my walk took longer, I started crouching down. It feels like I don't know what to do anymore. Was my choice a right choice? Well, I guess there's no turning back now.

All in my head I made a plan. What if I can do something to protect myself? What if I can let the whole world see and let them know that this girl doesn't exist? Maybe erase their memory and everything they know about me? I thought to myself. No. Lying would only ruin my parents' decision and they only know what's best for me. But as a vampire, we all know we could do stuffs humans cannot. And as for my parents, they created me. Created me into this creature I am.

I wished I could fake a death, so that people will no longer remember my name. But before I can make an action, I hear the sounds of sirens. Shit. The police are out to get me. Maybe the other boy who ran away to escape have already called help. Some backup.

I started sprinting away again. This time, not in the streets, but going to a graveyard.

They will not know I will be hiding there. The graveyard is an isolated place. It's a place where the deceased are buried. And also where a Vampire sleeps peacefully. The town of Libertine should have a garveyard and I know that I am not that just far.

I ran and ran. And finally arrived to my so-called destination.

The graveyard here was dark. Only the lights on its gate are the only ones giving the place some light. I looked for a small opening of a cave, hoping to hide. And then I started to see faint red and blue lights flashing behind my back and starts to get brighter as the police cars were about to pass the cemetery.

Hastily, I ran to an empty pit, jumped inside, and stayed completely quiet.

As I heard wheels of cars running inside the cemetery, I tried to check the pit. It's a big pit after all. And I can fit perfectly. There were red and blue lights flashing above the dug earth.   I can hear doors of the cars started to open. And then closed. And then sounds of shoes walking in soil. They're here. They're gonna find me. And how were they supposed to know that I'm here? I started to overthink. The thought of faking my death, isn't a good idea. I'm already dead. But the thought of burying  myself can save me. Nothing will suffocate me. I don't breathe. Vampires don't.

So I hurriedly gathered the soil from above. The pit where I was staying below was far from where they were standing, so nobody will ever notice me. I lay down as I gathered much soil from above the pit and threw them to me that it started to pile and cover my whole cold body. From head to toe, the dirt was getting higher and higher. Until I can't feel my legs move.

And my idea worked. After the police finished their investigation in the area, they left. Their vehicles drove out of the cemetery without getting even a single piece of my body or evidence.

I sighed, in accomplishment.

And then closed my eyes.
