EPILOGUE

5 months passed since the death of Will and Jeremy, and 5 months passed since I returned to the coven. My return wasn't as victorious as returning home with gold. Although happy to give my diploma to my family with pride, I explained how life in the human world was. They never reacted violently nor it was a big deal to them and to the coven, but they approved to my visit to the world again. Right after the week of Will's death and funeral, his family decided to hold their son's burial ceremony in the Libertine Cemetery along with the Libertine High faculty and staff. The principal made an announcement about the death of the two boys, right before the day of Will's funeral. As for Jeremy, his family decided to bury him somewhere, maybe in Ozbek, or in the town of Woodsbrook.

The case of the boys were said to be a murder, according to crime investigators, pointing out that Will's murderer was Jeremy. But the investigators' apprehension and attempt to connect the dots failed to help the case. And so, Jeremy and Will's death case was closed. Shut down. Still keeping it as a cold murder.

"Today is a sunny day, and we are great to hear some good news, everyone. This Tuesday, the Libertine Mayor will be holding a celebration dedicated to all of the town's police and emergency response facilities for keeping........"

The radio in the taxi cab loudened from the silence that surrounded between me and the taxi driver, and inside the cab. The taxi rode in the slippery road in a winter afternoon. Sitting in the backseat, I gazed at the taxi cab window on my left, and feel the cool air increasing, even though it just created a frosty, translucent look in the window. As I gaze, I've noticed that the town of Libertine had grown more trees. But the trees were leafless this time, since it is winter. Looking around at the town as I feel comfortable sitting in the cab gives me nostalgia. A nostalgia that makes me miss roaming around Libertine. A place I once visited.

"Just like the old days, Julius..." The reporter in the radio continued. I ignored the radio and continued gazing by the window, until the taxi stopped to an all too familiar place.

"We're here," the taxi driver spoke, turning his head on the backseat, to me. "Libertine Cemetery,"

I took money from the pocket of my thick furry coat and handed it to him. Getting out from the cab, my black polished boots crushed the ice, feeling it melt, as I stood in the facade of the cemetery.

The gates are still the same as it was before- big, iron gates supported by stony pillars , and engraved in those pillars were sculptures of angels, that aged well. The black ravens atop in the gates flew from each side of the posts as the cold breeze brushes through my rosy cheeks, and blowing a part of my red laid hair. Standing in front of the cemetery brought something new. This time, the gates are partly opened. I walked forward, pushed the open gate, and continued walking slowly between the aisle of rowed graves, almost covered in snow. I entered the cemetery.

Every step I take walking, I feel the snow landing in my hair, and brushing against my face. I continued walking, ignoring the heaviness the snow had brought to my boots, until I saw what I was looking for- the grave I've always wanted to visit. It wasn't an old grave, but it is still fresh looking and obviously newly built. The grave is different from most of the graves in the cemetery, it was in black marble with a carved writing in its front, and written in it was:

"To Our Beloved Son, William Day
2000 - 2017
May he rest in peace in the Kingdom of Heaven"

Will is lying right in this spot, I thought. I brushed off the snow that had partly covered Will's grave. Once again, I wept.

"I wish...I wish you're still here..with me," I spoke to his grave, tears falling from my eyes. "You didn't deserve this. Who could anyone even tell? That now, you're dead."
"Will,.. I'm sorry. I..I should've told you in the first place. I am not a person. I'm no human. I am a cold blooded vampire. My real name is Kathleene Kristavus, where I belong to a coven, where me..and my family dwells."
"Remember? When you said you loved the 80s?..., well,.. I also lived in the 80s. I am immortal. Until there was one night, someone caught my real vampire identity, well,..I already killed that person. He's dead, just like you."
"Look, Will, this served as my afterlife. Right now, I've finished my mission, I guess." I cried. "And I haven't thanked you yet. Thank you. And goodbye." I wiped my face with the sleeves of my coat and brushed the snow from my hair. And finally, inserted my hands to my pocket. I looked around, and walked my boots away from his grave.

I did enough, I thought, and I think it's better to leave this world for good.

Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Crash!

Loud noise interrupted me as I made my way to the aisle of the graveyard. I looked around to see where the noise had come from. Was it a car crash? A collapsed tree? I thought. But something made me look at the direction of Will's grave. A man, standing next to Will's grave caught my attention. And suddenly, it's like magic.

Will's grave was destroyed, like it has been hammered to pieces, only leaving debris. The soil, where Will's grave stood, exploded up in the air like it was dug up by underground miners, and its coffin, that used to be buried underground, was already above the ground surface. But the coffin was opened. Wide open. But no, Will wasn't in his coffin. It was just all mess and the mess was all directed to this man, who stood looking so formal in his tuxedo all covered in soil, in front of me. The man turned out to be so familiar, and seem to bring many memories.

It is Will.

Will Day. The one who just died  five months earlier. Who used to exist as my friend, and my lover. The one whom I loved as a human, now turned into a creature just like me. Will turned into a vampire.

"Kathleene," Will smirked. "What a very beautiful name."

I remained out of words. I couldn't believe what I just saw with my visible eyes. It really was Will. His skin turned pale white, so pale. His lips are cherry red, seductive. His hair had grown longer, and turned vibrant icy blonde. Nevertheless, Will became so attractive. And displayed a fresh-from-the-grave vampire.

"You...you are now a vampire," I spoke softly in relief and in joy seeing him again, this time alive.

"You turned me into." He replied, his voice expressed huskiness.

"You were listening the whole time?" I laughed.

"Of course. Even staying underground, I could still hear that clear voice of yours." He cheered.

"I thought I'm not gonna see you ever again." I said.

"It's just an illusion, darling." He responded. "You've endured the whole months of waiting, and now you already have me. There's no need to be afraid."

"I still love you." I said.

"I still love you too." He replied.

We paused for a moment and looked at each others eyes, like we did before.

"Kathleene," Will finally spoke. "I want us to be together. We'll leave together. Take me with you."

I moved closer to him, and he followed.

"Then come home with me." Tears dropped from my eyes as I held his hands and feel the snow touching our cheeks.

And then we kissed in the cold dusk of winter.

Now we will leave this place and bring our memories with it, and cherish it. There's no looking back to the past, I thought.
