November 20th 1963

It had been a while since the article was released it and was probably her best one yet, it was slap bang on the front page with Paul's winking face to go with it. She could barely touch the paper when it was handed to her by her proud parents. It was as if it was infected and she would collapse in an instant if she made any contact with it. She had to stop thinking about him, it was driving her insane. He just kept coming back into her mind when she thought he was gone. Love was strange and she hated it. Her first experience with this kind of love hadn't made a good impression on her, the only love she ever experienced was love for music. And so she returned to her vinyls like she always did. Back to the record store she would go in London but then she was reminded of what had happened there just a few weeks ago. Amelia was confused. She loved him but couldn't have him. He never said that he loved her but she was sure there was something.

Germany. All the way in Germany. He was sat back stage one night of the tour thinking about her and she had no clue. Amelia would pace up and down her room in the middle of the night thinking about running away but the thought of her parents and career always stopped her. Paul would miss a beat and fall out of time in frustration of her running off thinking he had made a fool out of himself. Maybe if they'd both done something different, this situation wouldn't have been so bad.

She forced herself with all the strength left in her body to never tell anyone about how she felt. If anybody noticed she was a so called "fangirl" then her life would be over. At least that's what she believed. But one person noticed that she wasn't herself. Someone who might just be the answer to her prayers. Someone to take her mind off things.

"Amelia?" Will said as he leaning out of his office as she walked briskly past.

"Yes?" She replied putting on a brave face, she hadn't spoken to him since Saturday.

"Can I talk to you quickly?" He asked walking up to her.

She checked her brown leather watch "Mmm. Meet me outside of the bakery at lunch time" she said and he nodded as they carried on with their tasks.

It was cold and windy but was relieved when Sheila handed her the warm pastie.

"Do you think you'll ever get bored of having these everyday?" She said giving Amelia her change.

"I don't think so, they just taste so wonderful" she said and took a huge bite satisfying her hungry stomach.

"I've got to go early this time, Will wants to have a chat" she said and Sheila looked surprised.

"Right. Well good luck!" She said and she left.

He was sat patiently on a bench outside of the bakery in his beige trench coat and thick rimmed glasses. He stood at the sight of her and they said hello. Will walked her to the park and they sat on a more private bench away from everyone to talk.

"I've noticed you've not been yourself lately, is everything... ok?" He said genuinely caring for her.

"Yes I'm fine. I think I'm just a little... overwhelmed" she said being careful not to spray her pastry everywhere.

"With work?" He said digging deeper.

"Probably." She said bluntly.

"I mean ever since this whole Variety Performance happened..."

"Please don't bring that up! Nothing happened!!" She said lifting her hand up to stop him.

"Sorry." He said looking down nervously and began tapping his foot on the grass.

"The pictures were brilliant!" He said looking back at her and she smiled.

"Thank you" she said blushing "I learnt from the best" she said and finished her last mouthful of her pastie.

"Look there's something else I want to say" he said after an awkward silence and she looked up at him.

"Recently I've realised..." he paused "that I have...feelings for... you" at first Amelia thought he was going to say Rachel but was slightly shocked when he mentioned her.

She thought long and hard about his confession. Maybe this was what she needed, someone supportive and caring right when she needed him.

"You know what... I have too" she said and she took her cold hand in his as they looked into each others eyes. She batted away any creeping thought of Paul as they began to move closer until their cracked lips collided.

It was an experience she'd never forget. Sat in a park on a cold winters day with a handsome posh man from work kissing on a bench. They pulled away even though they both wanted it to last forever and she smiled. They walked back to work having to run to arrive in time. And they went back to their offices as if nothing had happened.

She couldn't sit still her adrenaline was high and she had to tell someone. Rachel. She stood, composed herself then made her way towards Rachel's office.

"You will not believe what just happened!" She said so excited she could burst.

"What? What!" She said jumping up.

"I just kissed Will!" She stage whispered and they squealed just like they did when Amelia was invited to the performance.

"Oh my word! Does this mean you two are a thing now?" She said gripping Amelia's arms.

"I don't know? Maybe?" She said laughing from happiness.

They squealed some more until Amelia had go back to continue her work.

One thing was still watching her. Like a hawk stalking her every move making her feel as if she was doing something wrong. In frustration she stood out of her seat and ripped down the yellow poster as hard as she could and threw it in her bin. That's it. He was out of her life for good, she thought. She was finally moving on with her life.

She forgot that the paper was still there in her room, even though it was in her bin, watching her.
