August 2nd 1965

**note the different year**

Things between Will and Amelia hadn't progressed over their nearly two year relationship. Will had become less violent but more controlling due to the alcohol which placed Amelia in a difficult position, as long as he wasn't hitting her their relationship seemed like everyone else's and she thought it was normal. However, one afternoon a few days ago had broken them apart and she left his apartment that she had moved into and went home finally making a decision for herself. Her parents cared for her and she didn't go to work that week and she didn't know if Will was going to be there when she arrived. She decided to leave early so that she could talk to someone about what she'd been through and then go to work.

"Amelia! It's been so long! Where have you been?" Sheila asked placing her tea towel down on the counter and reached over to hug her.

Instantly Amelia burst into tears and Sheila ushered her to the back room where she gave Amelia her lesson on The Beatles for some privacy.

"It's been awful! Will is just so... so... manipulating and controlling. I never noticed! I was so naive!" She said sobbing and becoming frustrated with herself.

"This isn't your fault! He's the villain in this matter you just need to take some time to yourself that's all" she reassured her "Block him out of your life, just like you did with Paul" she said.

But she didn't block him out. Every time Will upset her, she'd sit in his bathroom and take herself back to the night that she met him as it calmed her down. Then she would weep and realise that she would never see him again. But his music brought her happiness and she had to listen to it in secret as Will had banned her from it.

"Anyway, we've broken up now so I guess I can move on" she said shrugging the thought away.

"Thank goodness I thought you'd never escape" Shelia checked her watch "you should probably go to work now love, I'll make sure your pastie is ready" she said and they hugged goodbye as she made her way to work bracing herself for Wills presence.

There was no sign of him which made her feel more at ease. She sat quickly into her chair in her office and sat still for a while taking it in. Then a firm knock fell at the door. She bolted up and braced herself for what was coming. Her heartbeat quickened and her plans dropped with sweat. She squinted ready to feel the wrath when Mr Miles strolled in with a huge smile on his face.

"Oh... Mr Miles!" She said and let out a huge breath.

"Hello Miss Jordan!" He said closing the door still smiling.

"I thought you'd be angry with me because of my absence" She said confused.

"Don't worry Amelia, Rachel told me everything" he said taking a seat.

"Oh. Is he hear today?" She asked.

"Yes. But I have warned him not to go anywhere near you other wise he will be sanctioned" he said sternly "moving on. I wanted to let you know, now that you're back, that I have a new assignment for you" he said.

"Great, I need something to take my mind off things" She said relaxing into her seat.

"I can't tell you what it is about, but il shall give you the address and I'm sure you'll know what to do when you get there" he said and handed her a small piece of paper.

"24 Chappel Street, London? That's not far from here" she said recognising the address.

"Indeed. About 14 minutes on the tube line. You'll be able to get there yourself won't you?" He asked.

"Of course, and what time do I have to be there?" Amelia asked in return.

"Around 5:30, there wasn't a specific end time as it's was quite unpredictable. You'll have to be smartly dressed but not extremely and you may want to take your camera with you" he said looking at it on her desk.

"Can you at least tell me one thing about this?" She said intrigued.

"You'll thank me when you realise" he said standing up "now, I better be on my way" he said walking to the door.

"When is actually happening?" She said.

"Friday" and he shut the door.

That is a little soon, she thought leaning back into her chair. Amelia swiftly checked her calendar, free. Her phone rang suddenly and she picked it up.

"Amelia?" A male voice said.

"Speaking, who is this?" The mans voice seemed frail and weak and unrecognisable.

"It's David. Karen has broken up with me" and he sobbed.

"Oh David I'm so sorry! What happened?" She said.

"You don't need to be sorry you just broke up with Will!" He sighed "she rambled on about how she felt like we weren't going anywhere and I that I was too clingy" he sniffed.

"What a cow! I thought she was lovely" she said angrily "have you told Mother and Father?"

"No not yet, they're at work and I'm home as I have I studied period but I don't think I'm going to go back to school" he said and sniffed again.

"Well I'll see you soon ok? Talk to them as soon as they arrive home?" She said trying to calm him.

"Ok. Thank you" and he hung up.

She checked the time. All she could do was mentally prepare herself for leaving her office once again. Soon, it was lunch time and she braced herself yet again incase Will was there. She walked confidently out of her office and noticed a tall familiar figure a few yards ahead, she kept herself far back from him and carried on to the bakery.
