Oh.
It's been literally over a year.
Um. Um yeah
I'll try to be better? *squeaks*
You sauntered into the other room, your large dress swishing in the best way. Your sleeves hung long and drooped low, and your skirt was huge. Your dress was a deep, shimmering emerald color. It had no shoulders, but the corset and the top part of your sleeve were a lighter green, swirled and decked in gold. A necklace with many pendants of gold hung on your neck, emerald pools sitting in each oval. Your hair was braided and set with small, golden flowers, all piled atop your head. You felt gorgeous.
Your father was wearing a suit that matched the color of your gown, his hair slicked back and a golden monocle sitting on his right eye. A kerchief of the same color as his eyepiece sat in his pocket and a tie ordained his neck.
He smiled at you and you beamed back. You both leaned against the wall of the ornately decorated dining room, and watched as the others bustled about. They talked in hushed tones and sipped on wine in clear, crystal glasses.
Tom walked away and returned with two glasses. One swirled in his hand and he handed it to you. "Tastes the same, but it's juice." He said. You nodded and sipped the juice, smiling at the amazing flavor.
A tall, thin lady with blond hair that curled at her hips made her way over. Dark blue cloth hung off of her shoulders and arms and pooled around her feet on the floor. She waved a peacock feather fan at them, smiling a red-lipped grin at Tom.
"Hello there, nice to see you've been invited to the mansion as well, I was wondering if any handsome men would join us. Plum and General Custard over there, I'm afraid, are dreadfully boring. I bet you're not dreadfully boring, are you, Mr...?"
Tom returned her smile with a tight lipped one of his own. "Jade. And this is Mrs. Peridot." He gestured to you and you fumbled to curtsy, splashing a bit of the juice on the floor. Mrs. Blue Lady gave you a slightly disgusted look, causing you to blush, but her sugar-sweet smile returned as she traced one finger down Tom's chest.
"I'm Mrs. Peacock, and it's an absolute pleasure to meet you, Mr. Jade. Come meet Mrs. Scarlet, will you? She's an actress and she knows the owner of the mansion, and she's such wonderful conversation." She tugged on his hand with her gloved one, batting her dark lashes at him.
"You go on, I'll be along in just a moment." Tom nodded in reply. Peacock sauntered off, and he leaned toward you, whispering in your ear, "be careful, and remember, I'm not controlling them. I just made the pieces come to life. I'm not quite sure what might happen."
"Yes, daddy." You replied, kissing his cheek. "Go have fun, before Mrs. Peacock looses a few feathers."
He giggled at you and walked off. You stood around for a moment, wondering what exactly to do. You weren't really great in party situations, so you sipped your fizzing juice again before making up your mind to talk to a handsome young boy in a dark purple suit.
He had curly, brown hair and big brown eyes and was rattling off something to a maid with snow-white hair who looked quite bored. As you walked off he quickly finished his explanation of how to finish some sort of math problem and stood up off the arm of the couch, smiling brightly.
"Ah, hello! A newcomer. My name is Professor Plum. Well, professor to be, anyways. I'm studying maths and French in Paris at the moment." He stuck out a strong, soft hand. "And who do I have the pleasure of meeting?"
"Mrs. Jade." You responded, shaking his hand firmly. "Nice to meet you, Professor. I'm in the process of learning French, my father teaches me."
"Oui! J'adore le français."
You smiled and chuckled at him, then the conversation fell away and you both stood there awkwardly. He clapped his hands, breaking the awkward silence, and grabbed your hand. "Well, how about I introduce you to everyone?"
"Sure!"
He gestured to the maid, who was still sitting on the couch, looking just as bored as before. "Je présente, Madame Blanche." His pointing finger went from one person to another. "Colonel Moutarde, Madame Paon, Madame Rouge, et Monsieur Vert."
"Et, mon pére là-ba, il s'appelle Monsieur Jade."
Mr. Green shouldered past you and out of the door, muttering about using 'the latrine'.
The both of you began to chat more, happily chittering and talking all about Plum's trips in France and his adventures, as well as the conditions of this party and how no one quite knew what was happening or why they were there.
You had begun to tell a very excited story about a dog you once met that could walk on its front paws (even though it was a half-wolf husky), when all of a sudden a scream pealed through the house, causing everyone to jump.
Tom met your eyes. The game had begun.
