You swallowed down the urge to either hide behind your dad or run away. Frostine looked very nice, her eyes wide and blue behind her glasses, and she also looked shy. She clutched a couple books and notebooks to her chest, watching a lady bug crawl across the gravel.
"Oh, hello there!" Barbara gave you a dazzling, friendly smile. "You must be (Y/n)!" She took your hand in her broad ones and shook it.
"Yes." Tom wrapped a reassuring arm around your shoulders. "This is my snowflake."
"Oh, and I bet she's just made of sugar and spice!" Barbara laughed.
You blushed softly and Tom let out a chuckle, and you could tell by the waver in his voice he was still nervous and unsure. No one would ever have been able to tell, because his honey sweet voice and laughter flowed smoothly, but you were close enough to him to pick up on the trembles in it.
"Yes, yes she is. Would you like to come in? We have some coffee made, and I have some cookies I baked up earlier."
Barbara's eyes lit up. "Really? That'd be wonderful! C'mon Frostine."
Tom lead them into the house and you all settled down at the table. Tom grabbed the plate of delicious (f/c) and set it down on the table. He poured Barbara and himself some coffee, and handed you and Frostine each a glass of milk.
You gobbled down a cookie and some milk, while Frostine nibbled on one. She didn't look like she didn't like it, she just looked shy. Now that you were settled at the table, shoveling cookies into your mouth, you felt more comfortable.
Tom and Barbara began to talk, and soon they were laughing, all the wavering gone for, your father's voice. You turned to Frostine, who was finishing her third cookie. "Hey, so, you like reading?" You asked softly.
"Oh, yeah." She smiled softly, meeting your gaze. "I love books."
"My dad just bought some new ones for me. Wanna come check them out?"
"Yeah!" Frostine and you both shot out of your chair, grinning.
You knew this was the start of an incredible friendship.
