Today was the day. I felt somewhat sick, excited, happy, and nervous. Karla had made me and Lauren breakfast. Lauren had been extra preppy today. She was dressed in some skinny jeans, a Beatles tee, and a leather jacket. Her high top converse on her feet.
I was dressed in peach colored skinnies, a flowery top, and a jean jacket. My Sperrys at my feet. Before we had left, I checked I had my books and things in my bag. "Ready?" I nodded and walked to the taxi. On the way, we had a conversation.
"Your staying in a dorm, aren't you Diana?" I nodded. "I'll come home on weekends. Don't worry." Lauren smiled. "I can't believe we are here. I can't wait to study animals and become a vet. What are you studying again, Diana?" I smiled with pride.
"I'm studying music, I wanna be a song writer, maybe even sing." Karla hugged us. "I can't believe your going to college. I would've gone but school just isn't my thing. OMG, Diana, your growing up." She pinched my cheeks. I slapped her hands off. "I'm only a year younger than you. I'm turning 19 in 3 months." "Why are you going in so early?" Lauren was confused. "I graduated early." She nodded.
Moments later, we arrived. People were rushing around. The typical jocks were playing pranks. The girly girls were chatting away. The nerds were sitting in the grass, playing broad games.
"Where's your dorm, Diana?" Lauren asked. "I'm in a frat house. One of the girls said they would be here." As soon as I had said that, a girl walked up to me. She was wearing a pink sweater that ended at her mid thigh, black leggings, a white scarf, and brown boots.
"Hi, are you Diana?" I nodded. "Oh, good." She shook my hand. "I'm Tiffany, your frat mate." She had a genuine smile. "Well, um, let's go to the frat house."Lauren stood there. "Um, I have to go see my other classes and professors." I nodded. She smiled and walked away. We walked trough many people, Tiffany waving and talking to everyone.
We soon walked to a pretty house. Plants were around the house. The house was brick. "Here we are. Um, we have rules around here." I nodded as we walked in. "Um, we all have to pitch around here. So we pay one-eight the bills, now that your here. We all have our duty to clean. You'll be sharing a room with Gemma. GIRLS!" Six girls walked down the stairs. "These are the girls. It's Danielle, Perrie, Lizzeth, Gemma, Natalie, and Macy."
I felt out of place. All these girls were gorgeous. I was like a daisy in the bouquet of roses. "Well, I guess Gemma should take you to your room, and we'll meet down here in a few. Wear something party-ish, we're going to the boy's frat party."
Gemma pulled me to the room. "Um, well I'm Gemma. Gemma Styles," I smiled. "Nice to meet you, um, what do I wear?" She smirked. "Have you ever gone to a party?" I shook my head. "Not one of these, I'm afraid." She tapped her chin. "What size do you where?" I looked at her as she walked to her closet.
"I'm a medium." She hummed and took out a variety of dresses. "Pick one, don't worry." A navy blue dress caught my attention. I pulled it against my body. It came to mid thigh. I placed it down.
"What's wrong with that one? It would look lovely on you!" I blushed. ."it's too short." She erupted into a laugh. "You're gonna wear it. Your in college, love. Not in elementary." She pushed me into the bathroom. "Try it on." I did as I was asked.
I looked in the mirror. The dress fit my curves, perfectly. I walked out. "Oh, my, goodness! You look amazin' love!" She pulled me to the vanity. "Let's do your hair and makeup. While the iron heats up, I'll get dressed." I heard noises from the closet. Gemma came out with her outfit on and a pair of heels. "Let's get started!" She faced me away from the mirror.
Minutes later, Gemma was done. I blinked many times. The reflection held a beauty. Her brown eyes popped out. Her blemishes were gone. She had soft skin. She wasn't me. I had to be dreaming. I looked like a...a....Normal teenager. Diana the nerd wasn't here.
