Flashback

I struggled to crave my name into the cave wall, at least I managed to make it look clean and not messy. I had Niklaus hold my sleeves back so I wouldn't tear them so he stood close behind me, chuckling softly at the frustrated look on my face. He wasn't exactly happy that I was handling a blade, apparently I could cut my finger or something. In my opinion I was doing just fine; no cuts anywhere, at least not from craving my name into the cave wall...

"Nakytta, let me have at it!" Niklaus shouted at me, worry cloaked his voice.

"Quiet Niklaus! Ought to have more concentration if I'm not to slice off a finger."

"Nakytta! Father wouldn't appreciate you handling a blade." Niklaus exclaimed.

"Mikael wouldn't even care if I slit my own throat, with this blade. So if I want to wield a blade, then I shall wield a blade!" I shouted back, angrily at him, "He doesn't need to know anyways." I murmured after.

"He will find out, he always does." He whispered back.

"That is because you always tell him." I muttered back, trying to focus on the carving of my name.

We were silent for a moment, neither of us spoke. The silence was heavy in the air, nothing was heard; not even our breathing. I wonder if he was holding his breath like I was holding mine?

"I am sorry, sister, I can not help it, it's just that he frightens me." Niklaus finally said, breaking the silence.

I let out my breath that I held, relieved that it was no longer quiet. Outside the cave the birds started to chirp again and the land creature started to roam.

"He frightens me too, brother, that is why we will stick together. Always and forever." I muttered lowly, "Right, traitor?" I said louder, looking back and smiling at him.

"Always and forever." He agreed softly, taking my right hand into his, smiling back at me.

I once again turned my attention to the cave wall and continued to carve my name into the stone wall, focusing all my energy on it. Niklaus continued to chuckle softly beside me, still holding my right hand squeezing it lightly whenever I let out a frustrated growl. Once I finished carving my name, I started to carve Saharah's; Niklaus let out a small sigh.

I got to the second 'A' when I ripped my hand out of Niklaus's and threw the blade at the wall out of frustration. It made a small mark connecting my name and Saharah's name together. It was too complicated and my hand had started to cramp up. Niklaus recovered from his shock and burst out laughing at my sudden outburst, I flexed my left hand as I glared at him.

"Relax, little sister, perhaps you are to assist mother with the meal and leave the blades to the men."

"I will not. However, I am to fetch Saharah from Maria; I am afraid I am rather late unfortunately." I said hastily, wiping my dusty hands on my dress.

I didn't usually have someone else babysit Saharah, but sometimes Niklaus convinces me to have time off to 'Live A Little' as he puts it. Maria is always a willing volunteer, always eager to take Saharah from me. Sometimes I wonder if one day she'll say she lost Saharah only to take her for herself and move to another land with her sister Tatia.

"You are to go and leave the wielding to the men, I will finish Saharah's name. Can you hand me the blade you abruptly threw out of your frustration, little sister?"

I swiftly snatched the blade from the ground and resorted by slamming it blade-side down onto his impatient palm. Niklaus winces as a thin red line appeared on his palm as blood started to leak out from the cut.

"Agh, sister!" He hissed retreating his hand back, dropping the blade.

"It's just a little blood; be a man about it, brother." I reply smoothly.

I turn on my heel and stalk out of the cave, and begin my search for Maria. Niklaus was fun to tease.
