I walked into the courtyard to see my daughter standing by the table The Hollow's jaw bone was on. "Hope, what's going on?"

"Mom, can you hear them too?" Hope asked.

I grabbed her arm and made her face me as Klaus walked closer.

"What's going on?" Klaus asked.

"Look at me," I told Hope. "Tell me what you heard."

"Voices," Hope replied. "They said that we're connected to this. You and me."

I looked at Klaus, worried.

"If this fossil's been whispering lies, I'll gladly throw it in the river," Klaus said.

"No, not the bone. The witches. The ancestors," Hope told us, looking up. "They have a message for us. A warning."

Klaus and I had learned that Elijah and Vincent had re-established the Ancestors' link to the city.

"Tell me what they said," I told her.

"They want you to go to St. Anne's Church to talk to them," Hope said. "They said you have to do exactly what they say and you have to do it now." Hope turned her head to look at the jaw bone. "Before the Hollow comes for us."

Klaus and I looked at each other, uneasy about what we had just learned.

I had asked Hayley to look after Hope while I go and talk to the Ancestors. I was just leaving the compound when Elijah walked closer.

"Please don't go," he told me.

I stopped, turning to face him. "The whole point of you going to Vincent was to get the Ancestors on our side. Find the bones, stop The Hollow from getting--"

"Why are you doing this?" Elijah asked.

"Because they've asked me to," I answered. "Who else is gonna go? You?" Elijah was silent. "You slipped the throats of four witches."

"That was necessity," Elijah told me.

"Really?" I asked, skeptically. "Was it? 'Cause it always seems like there's some necessity for some awful thing."

"We are at war with a creature we barely understand," Elijah told me.

"That's the point," I told him. "We don't understand this thing or how to stop it. But one thing is for sure, we need help and I'm gonna go get it."

I left before Elijah could say another word to stop me.

"She's not wrong," I heard Klaus tell his brother. "We do need allies. While we appeal to the local spirits, you and Marcel should marshal forces."

"I beg your pardon?" Elijah asked.

"We are in a race to find those bones," Klaus answered. "Marcel knows the city. He's the enemy of our enemy. Look, perhaps it's time to mend bridges rather than throw people off them."

I waited outside for Klaus and together, we headed to St. Anne's Church.

~*~*~

Klaus and I walked into St. Anne's Church where we were meant to go to talk to the Ancestors.

"It's quiet," I said, looking around.

"Of course, it's quiet," Klaus told me. "It's a trap."
