Freya and Kol left France as soon as they learned that Elijah was dead. Hayley and I were watching Freya set up a spell in the ballroom.
Klaus walked in. "Rebekah and Kol just landed. I assured them we're mere moments from returning our brother to life. Don't make me a liar."
"I can't resurrect Elijah until I'm certain his mind is whole," Freya told him.
"Well, you saved Finn with that very trinket. What's the problem?" Klaus asked.
"When that pendant was shattered, Elijah's mind shattered with it," Freya answered. "He's most likely retreated to the innermost core of his consciousness."
"How do we find that?" I asked.
"I don't know," Freya answered. "He could be anywhere in over a thousand years of memories, but if I try fixing the pendant before finding him and healing his mind, he'll be permanently fractured. Like casting a broken bone before it's been properly set."
"Spare me the medical analogies and fix him," Klaus told her.
"I need to go inside and find him," Freya replied, just as agitated. "Once I'm sure his mind is stable, then I can fix the pendant."
"Well, stop talking and get in there," Klaus said.
I closed my eyes, annoyed with their bickering. "Klaus. Take a walk, get some air. Let her work. Please."
Klaus hesitated, walking out of the room.
Hayley looked at Freya. "Please tell me that you can do this."
"He's my brother," Freya said. "I'm not gonna stop until he's safe."
~*~*~
I walked closer to Freya. "You actually think you can pull this off?"
"I don't know," Freya said. "I've never actually tried this before."
"Freya, there are a thousand years of memories in there," I told her. "How will you know which is the right one?"
"He'll recognize me," Freya replied. "If I can find the core of his being or whatever memory he's clinging to, I'll pull him out." Freya walked towards the sigil on the floor and laid down, starting to chant. "Tillata ulaz. Tillata ulaz. Tillata ulaz. Tillata ulaz. Tillata ulaz."
Hayley and I watched the pendant glow as Freya went inside.
~*~*~
Hayley and I sat outside the sigil, looking at Freya, waiting to see if she could help Elijah.
After several moments, Freya woke up with a gasp.
"Freya, what's wrong?" I asked.
"I thought I found him, then he just vanished right in front of me," Freya answered. I helped her stand. "That's not our only problem. I can't search Elijah's mind and sustain the spell at the same time."
Hayley seemed to get an idea, standing. "What if you sent Nina in?"
I looked at her
"It would require more power," Freya told me.
"You stay here and anchor the spell," Hayley replied.
I furrowed my brows in confusion. "What about you?"
